Why not use LP or cng for reefer engine?

CNG/LNG is methane. IF CO2 is bad, in terms of heat storage, methane is 100x more effective at storing heat.

 

He was asking Richter to enlighten us on the effects of getting NG out of the ground, as a by product of drilling for oil.

 

Well... that's the deal. Methane leaks into the atmosphere... whether we're talking about getting it out of the ground, fueling, running an engine or the tanks are just sitting. That's a really big problem.

That's the big issue with natural gas extraction- methane release into the atmosphere, although fracking has a nasty habit of contaminating ground water.

 

How many tons of methane are released into the air when a gas well is drilled? Not how many are released when natural gas is consumed, but during the process of bringing a well in. How does that differ from bringing in an oil well?

Please provide some proof to the statement "fracking has a nasty habit of contaminating ground water." Oh, and please don't use any of the various, disproven Youtube videos showing people lighting their tap water on fire. Provide a reliable and documented source for a proven, bona fide, ground contamination issue resulting from fracking. The term "has a nasty habit" seems to imply continuous multiple incidents of contamination, so given the tens of thousands of wells drilled in the U.S. and Canada every year, I would expect a significant number of documented incidents.

Also, even if there are some incidents of contamination, the term "far worse then getting oil to make diesel" implies that there is some significant difference between oil exploration vs. gas exploration. Perhaps you could validate that statement.
