60k pieces? They only have 11,000 trucks and like 30k trailers. So roughly 1/10 of their fleet are getting hit a year for stuff. That's a lot in this CSA era. Those points add up fast and will get you shut down, lose customers, lose freight, more inspections etc.
Moving Forward Thanks this. -
My 2 cents:
In two years SNI was inspected 9,422 times. 5,663 of those times no violation was found. So almost 2/3 of SNI inspections come up perfect. Of the 6,000 violations the vast majority are tires and lights,. Easy things to get fixed if the driver makes the effort. On the other hand tires and lights can go bad at any time. How many times have you done a solid pretrip, driven 200 miles, thumped the tires and found a flat, or bad wear, or some other issue? Three weeks ago I ran thru a company shop for a trailer tire. While I was in there the mechanic walked around and checked all of the lights (this is after I and my trainee had already pretripped and only found the tire issue). Between pulling out of the shop and getting to the gate, one of my headlights burned out. A distance of 400 feet. Stuff happens. The thing I see is that less than 1,000 of the violations were serious enough to be put OOS.
Schneider's van division has about 12,000 trucks on the road. To only be inspected 9,422 times in two years is a very low number. In four years of driving I've NEVER been inspected. Unless I'm driving thru Georgia or running very heavy I usually get the green light from Pre-Pass.
Are there things that SNI can do better in terms of maintenance? You bet. Do I believe that SNI is among industry leaders in terms of maintenance? You bet.mlj7, jakecat22, ethos and 1 other person Thank this. -
I was trying to get that point across but some folks just want to **o** these boards and start stuff.

Take it up with your DBL, nobody should ever tell you they will fix it after you get a ticket. If your DBL does nothing about it speak with the Terminal manager.jakecat22, Moving Forward and Swamprat55 Thank this.

Also mark it on your trip inspection sheet, and keep marking it till its fixed. They have to fix it. Take it to express probably a simple fix.

Mention the word safety. That always seems to get their attention. Tell them you wanna talk to someone in safety.

So on an unrelated note, is there anything online that lists Schneider's approved parking spots for trucks? I'll probably have to take my truck home once I get into my own truck because I live pretty far from the OC. I know I could ask at the OC, but I'd rather see a list if possible than have to start listing every possible place I can think of to find out if it's approved or not.

Anyone know a shifting refresher course near Charlotte, NC?

Anyone know anything about the John Deere dedicated account? I just applied for it and got accepted in San Antonio. Home daily, off weekends, salary...all that. Just wondering about what I'm NOT being told.
