I have been thinking of going to lone mountain, or driving for someone until I have $12, 000 cash for a starter truck. Just gotta get my foot in the door first. Some of those big sleepers ive seen blow me away. I never knew you could make that much at mercer. I should have been over there 2 years ago.

Is it really worth it to have a California compliant truck ?

If you save and buy a starter truck vs a high interest loan (lone mountain), you will have double the chane of making it as an O/O.
Most O/O never make it past a year because of making truck payments, repairs, maintaince, and sometimes trailer payments. Numbers look good till something goes wrong.
I know I'd be broke and without a truck if I didn't do most of my own work myself. Everytime I take it somewhere to get worked on, I pay out the butt and it usually isn't fix right.
I beleive the best thing an O/O can do, is learn to work on his truck in almost everyway possible.

when I went to get another road tractor after selling off the toter trucks, there actually wasn't much difference in financing a kw at the dealer than the same model at lone mountain.

my situation was I had money already made that was safe and sound in the bank, I wasn't willing to take my already in hand money and spend it all in cash on a truck.

my problem was when trying to buy a used truck at a dealer I kept getting the run around cause when they ran credit, they wanted to sell me a new one. I just got tired of it, I knew the model and year of the truck I wanted, I had many "sold by mistake" after I had commited to buy. then was offered deals on new ones.

after this I happened to drive by lone mountain in Tifton,ga saw the model I had been looking for , went it and inquired. I ended up taking five grand out the bank , paid 3400 down, plus 250 on a dyno and 100 for a "find something wrong inspection" , and hit the road.

truck passed mercer inspection first time thru the gate, and that's saying a lot. it has stood on its own now , recouped that 5 grand investment, paid off the trailer, apu , and 2 more payments. and my already made money is still as it was. and will be.

I am a guy who thrives on sliding down razorblades

You need your own trailer or you can lease one . I think a new van is about $535/month. And I think if you make all the payments its yours . I think payments are for 5 years. I have talked to them. I am going off my memory.

ok I have some questions now.... I also am thinking about lone mountain.... yes I know I have horrible credit and shouldnt think about being an owner operator.... with that said does lone mountain work with crappy credit? I have been reading all about mercer and so far I am in love...... so with that being said... do they work with bad credit.... and if I lease one from Lone mountain my payments will be around $1400 a month and then I will have to lease a trailer from Mercer... with that being said..... what is an average I can expect income vs expense. I live in Denver co and will be probably driving 3 out of 4 weeks each month..... first question I need answered does Lone mountain work with bad credit and are their vehicles California compliant?
