Roadrunner transport

you must be coming outta mira loma? I remember they wouldn't let solos run northeast out of that terminal, but if they do now I would take one so youre unloaded and picking up your next load monday morning. if you end up going to seattle and unloaded thursday sometime you may not get a terminal load until the friday night saturday morning loads(2 days sitting) unless you find a brokered load. or run to the Midwest so you can a nice load for fri night sat morning. also, who cares if you don't get paid that week, don't run to get paid week to week, you will limit your options. ooooor do what I do and probably 50 percent of the guys, and send your paperwork in early. rrts will put a letter in your mailbox and ask you to resend in paperwork with maybe the fuel receipts you left out or mileage. I can get a 3000 mile load or a backhaul on thursday or friday morning and get the paperwork and run to the truckstop and send it in before I get 10 miles away from shipper and never had a problem or them question anything.

Was at the Hamilton, OH terminal today and there were about 5 trucks sitting. With all the extra lease trailers there looked like an Extra lot. After looking over all the different companies that are under Roadrunner I am thinking A&A Express pulling a refer works best for me.

Anyone have any insight or experience with them?

That's a pretty neat trick if I read that right, transflo the paperwork before the weekly deadline, before delivery lol.

 

If you use the transflo app on your phone it will not b clear and they will ask you to rescan on monday just a little helpful hint

 

Never had a problem
using transfloed app on phone, make sure you take clear pics. Never transfloed anything before it was delivered just incase there was a problem with load.

Lot's of good info guys, I am thinking of coming over to Roadrunner van in a little bit, now I understand there is no upfront costs at orientation, but what are they charging for the trailers? Do you need hazmat?

I live in Omaha NE, can you choose your running area? hometime? and do you have to take terminal freight, or do you look for your own?

As a word to the WiSE, I wouldn't transflo anything before you deliver it. Things are pretty simple here at RRTS and you don't wanna be the reason they come up with a ridiculous rule about paper work. Keep it simple, deliver the load, transflo paper work. If you schedule things right or just run hard, you wont have a problem transfloing paper work on time
You don't have to agree with me about this, just hate for something to happen then we have a crazy rule come down from corp over something we all knew was wrong in the first place.

EASYB, You can do what ever you like, no one is going to say anything long as your paying for your cost. Extra lease trailers are expensive. I would suggest you get you own, this way your not spending money every week on a trailer you will never own. If you look around some decent dry vans can be had for under $5000.

Nothing is forced Dispatch here, home time is up to you. go home when you want stay as long as you want. IF your leasing a truck and trailer I wouldn't advise it as payments come out weekly like clock work.

 

I can answer most of these. I am getting ready to go to orientation for A&A Express next week but asked all kinds of question about Roadrunner before making my decision.

Roadrunner was going to give me three months to get my hazmat back on my license.

The drivers that need trailers are set up with settlement deduction with Xtra Lease. Looking at Xtra's web site a 53 102 was between $125 and $150 a week.

From what I can gather from google most of Roadrunner freight gets moved like a LTL. They have terminal runs and expect you to do two of these a month. This information came from the recruiter Have read in this post that reloads out of a terminal could take a day or two. I was in at the Hamilton OH terminal at 8am and had to take some paper work back at around 4. There was 5 trucks parked 3 idling at 8. At 4 there were 4 of those and 2 new ones there. While in the office only heard one tow motor running. Could use more dock help?

On this thread there has been mention of Roadrunner's back haul department and the use of load boards. Might be worth your wild to page threw these post. The guys posting have first hand knowledge of the brokerage side of the company.

As explained to me Roadrunner expects you to cover two terminal loads a month beyond that you are a contracted carrier and the leave the handling of your bussiness to you. Home time is your descression.
Lanes from brokerages are based on your decision and bussiness needs.
