Congratulations and welcome to TMC. Maybe I'll see you out on the road one of these days. Continue to ask questions, we will help if we can.

Ive been looking into applying at TMC. What is there TAH policy and do you take the truck home with you?
-
What is TAH. Yes, you take your truck and trailer home with you, or to a parking area close to you. You are resposible for finding you own parking place. You are not allowed to unhook the trailer from the truck.
-
TAH=Time At Home Sorry...

I wonder if TMC would consider me a rookie driver needing training if I came over. I have 13+ years OTR but in van/reefer. I have all weather and all road type experience. All I need is to learn the tarp/load securing side of things.
-
Go to the TMC site for info on this. You will get a shorter orientation than inexperienced drivers and you will go out a couple of weeks with a trainer to learn securement and the TMC way of doing things.
From their site:
"During orientation, you'll get an introduction to the company, our pay structure, defensive driving, satellite communications, training and safety trip planning. If you are new to flatbed, you will learn proper load securement and tarping techniques and you will practice on flatbed trailers. New flatbed drivers will spend time with a veteran driver trained to help you learn the company's freight lanes, defensive driving and load securement." -

i have a question, lets say my wife was with me and i had a load going to las vegas and we wanted to spend a day or two there before i took another load out of town, is that possible?
Thanks. -
While possible, you would need to coordinate this with your Fleet Manager. If you have a good one he will work with you. Of course, your chances would be better if you wanted to be in Las Vegas over the weekend. Freight moves during the week for the most part and you would be expected to work then.
