Mar03 mid TN ice everything shut down this Monday

I-40 West of Memphis in Arkansas is a parking lot on the wb side. A total freak show. For hours hundreds if not thousands of us are out here. Everywhere it's a sheet of ice.

 

Eastbound was just bad as westbound just eastbound didn't sleep on the interstate. I counted 4 jack knifes and 1 flipped truck and who knows what before I got there and that was just going east.Took 12 hours to get from mm221 to 280. West bound was a parking lot til after the construction, then smooth sailing.

 

Traffic in the Clarksville/Oak Grove is moving on I-24. Please watch for ice on the hwy and secondary roads. Thank You to all the drivers that worked with the fire dept this morning at the J off exit 86 ( KY )

 

A quick glance at Google Traffic reveals US64 is wide open and running smoothly. I used to run that way when I-40 was down to two lanes at the White River. North out of Little Rock on US67 to Bald Knob then 64 east to West Memphis. A 25 mile difference. NO WAY would I spend hours sitting on I-40. Arkansas does nothing for winter weather other than wait for a thaw.

 

Sitting on 40 right now in Arkansas not far from tennesee border. So fun

 

In all my day I've never seen neglect by a highway department like I've witnessed in Arkansas these past two days. Unbelievable. So irresponsible.

 

Last night stuck at 3 am on mm 221



6 hours later I still in the same place. ..



Take more than 12 hours the way at Memphis.

 

Ditto. Shameful.

 

i live in west tn,got real lucky.this came in sunday night while i was home.so im iced in safe at home.its thursday and i still cant get out this morning.
