You get the $400 on the back end. If you turn in an acceptable truck.
Yeah that $870 per year interest is a real profit booster for Boyd Brothers.

I get it that you get the money back. You still loaned them money. You look at interest as a low margin. If Boyd invests that money they will make much higher return. Why dont they pay you 10% for loaning them money?
-
$400 x 10% per year. THE HORROR!!!!! Assuming Boyd Brothers could even elbow their way past all the Wall Street bankers, corporate insurance executives, union pension funds, and politicians and work their way into that type of low-risk interest investment return in this market.
What is the real purpose of the $400 escrow? Its an incentive to keep lazy slob drivers from effin up company trucks.
Even if it were the case. So what if they were getting 10% return by investing the escrow funds? Of course they're going to try and maximize their revenue stream by leveraging a cash asset. That's part of what goes into paying drivers' salaries.Last edited: Mar 9, 2014
dwalto Thanks this. -
TMC provides all ppe at no charge. No boot allowance tho
-
Then how do other companies keep having fat lazy slobs from effing up their companies? They don't hire or retain fat lazy slobs.
By continually referencing the dollar value and missing the point. It's YOUR money and THEY have it.
It's like going to work for Honda manufacturing and them saying we are going to keep $400 of your pay in case you break a drill bit.
Look I get that you like Boyd and it's a good company. I wish you continued success. But it does not make the policy of "escrow" ok. -
Are you joking? You're going to complain about $3.50 in escrow interest a year.
It's their trucks. It's their policy. It's that simple. Nobody's making you drive for Boyd Brothers. Perhaps you might like driving for one of the big non-profit trucking firms where costs are not a factor.
I bet you get tax refund every year from the IRS. You're more than happy to let Uncle Sugar hold perhaps hundreds of dollars from you interest free but you're going to ##### about interest on a $400 escrow?
BTW: I said nothing referring to fat. There are plenty of professional overweight drivers out there who don't smear their feces all over the cab interior and abandon the load at a truck stop because they're mad at the company (as described in several other posts in this forum).Last edited: Mar 9, 2014

Oh that is hysterical. You think I drive for Boyd? Ummmm no. Never have never will. I get paid by the hour as we all should. And no, I pay on April 15th every year since 02.
Don't know whyvyou are stuck on some $3 figure and miss the big picture.
No need to respond, I won't be back to this thread. Have a nice day.Leftnut Thanks this. -
Did they tell you about this "escrow" when they hired you.
It would appear to me that this should of been disclosed before you signed on. -
Yes drivers are told of it during orientation.
