    We're old school too.

    Run a 1979 K100 Kenworth with a Big Cam I 350 in it.

Thing runs like a top and I can fix it myself without plugging it in and whatnot.

The government could screw up most anything, and they certainly have been giving us a screwing royally.

So when are FAR Part 135 and 121 air carriers going to be mandated to have EOBRs or EDLs or whatever the P.O.S.es are called this week? How about cab drivers and limo drivers?

But isnt qualcomm a different operating system?
To me, having software that will only install on 3 machines isnt a problem. Buying it once and not paying a ongoing cost whether monthly or annually is a major plus at reducing overhead cost. For a small operation of one to three trucks this is ideal.
Qualcomm is such a service where a company has to pay monthly fees for the subscribership as well as a fee for the text messaging.

The OP was asking about EORB’s.

Drivers Daily Log is an ELog, not an EORB. They are not the same animal.

That isn't all of either Johnny.......I'm sure they collect something on every transaction that passes thru their hands. Way to go is to remove the money passing thru their hands.........like pay for it yourself.

If you were long term you could buy your own QC . As long as a carrier runs QC you could work there. It's a couple of key strokes on the FM's computer to accept your truck.

DDL is nothing like what a quallcom is.

It is just a simple program which can be manipulated to reflect whatever is put on it.

I am now on the fourth computer since I bought DDL. Which means I have to buy the program all over again.

The carrier I am with uses Qualcomm with the Elogs. Also has GPS routing feature and some other stuff. I get hit for $10 a week for it. No deposit, no install or removal fees.

I quit about a few days ago and leased my truck onto another carrier that uses paper logs. Anyway, haven't had a chance to return back to the terminal to have the guys take the qualcomm out. My final settlement has a charge for $3000 and a note, 'driver failed to return qualcomm equipment'. Now I think I will just keep it, I am leery to turn my truck into their shop as they may foul something up or even claim the qualcomm is damaged then charge me for it anyway.

I had a thought to stretch it out the truck on a stand then take my 9 mil and blast it with about 30 rounds and put up on youtube lol

The only caveat is if you want the $20 monthly cost, you need to sign on for 5 years. You can get a 1 year lease but I'm sure it will cost much more per month.
