Good luck to you two. Take it easy and don't get ahead of yourselves. Remember you can always go to slow. I would rather shoot myself in the head than travel to that part of the country. I am happy with Canada's Yukon and British Columbia and my favorite Alaska. Heavy traffic to me is when you see three trucks in a row or in less than an hour.
You can see what it is like on the other side of the country here: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...g-forum/241742-running-produce-to-alaska.htmlgpsman, Kickstand-117 and rookiedriver93 Thank this. -
Every mile is your first mile. Don't get to comfortable. Trucks run on Murphy's Law.
gpsman, Kickstand-117 and rookiedriver93 Thank this. -
Went there once and that was enough.
Wouldn't want to go back again in a four wheeler, much less again in this rig.
Too many pedestrians, cars and not enough room.
Not going back, nope...not happinin

gettin in/out of the pt is a piece of cake--probably easiest or one of easiest spots in NYC to deliver--course once your in the mkt--it gets a little interesting--but remember--smacking a 6wheeler driving behind you is NOT chargeable--LOL

Hunts Point is not that bad. I did it too several times when I was with FFE. Going to Queens I found to be far more challenging.rookiedriver93 Thanks this.

Hunts Point. Wow, what a baptism. Years ago when I got my CDL with CRE they threw me in the deep end with a consignment of onions, bound for HP.
It couldn't be in a worse place. There was an entry fee of $25 at that time. Trying to back/ bump the dock was a nightmare in itself. We had to encounter all these Asian guys running around in their 6 wheelers.
The best part was the deli inside. Pretty good food.
I was stuck in that place for 2 days. The receiver kept taking a bag or two of onions just for himself. Never gave me a hint of when they were going to unload me. Most of the merchants in their looked like they were Jews.
after I finally got outta there , my dispatcher said sit tight and we will get you a load in the morning.
Not flicking likely, I told him. This is the Bronx bro, I'm off. I'll call you when I'm out of this particular crime ridden favela. Hunts point always kinda reminded me of Escape from NY the movie with Kirk Russell
Never again. But good luck.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Friend of mine sometimes hauled loads of whiskey into that area. His first load, he parked after paying a huge gate fee, maybe $75.00 or so. Went inside and noticed a couple of guys open his trailer door and start handing cases of whiskey over the fence. He yelled and the receiving clerk said,"Shut up and mind your own business."
Finally got a dock and unloaded. The shipper said they have to just deal with it because it's Mafia getting their cut. -
many places are much worse then hunts point
at least that is made for trucks
now fulton market was an adventure
before they moved
