Yea it's being petitioned as well. I'm sure that won't do ANY good what so EVER because the good old FMCSA does what they want when they want. But hey here's a thought gee ossifur my stupid $700 machine that you said I needed in order to drive has malfunctioned and isn't working so here is my PAPER LOG book that I AM NOW USING to record my duty status.
How much does EOBR cost for an O/O?

Let's not forget as well, that law suits will tie this thing up in Court and I am sure OOIDA as well as other's will sue the FMCSA Also, there are a few Congressman and Senator's that are against this from the start. I am sure something like the EOBR is coming in the future but, how far into the future are we talking, is the question. There are a lot of Mechanical trucks out there, what are they going to do with them? I assume there will be a grandfather period. The APP. I mentioned earlier is good enough to meet the rules, that aren't even in place yet so... I figure I have a good 10/15 years before I am forced out.

Comments are open on the fmcsa Web site listed below on the ELD mandate, I left mine and was focused on safety, please be professional, the argument that Elogs eave you stuck 30 miles from home and forced to take a 10 hour break is not a legitimate argument, get the word out we don't want this to happen
"Look at the mess of the HOs we now have. That is because only 23,000-25,000 comments was received. There is a estimated 3,000,000 CDL holders in the United States. This included the 4 in person listening sessions, email, snail mail, and the online portal
Below is the information you will need to know when writing/ sending your comments in. The info is from JJ. KELLER, the same people who print up paper logs..
Docket number FMCSA-2010-0167

To not send in a comment to the FMCSA is like not voting. Then you have no right to complain."BigBadBill Thanks this. -

What they will do is start hammering owner ops for $2500 and $11,000 fines for alleged paper logbook violations. Soon enough owners will clue in that to stay in business is to run Elog. This is why the big companies use it, cheaper than the fines.

I was fairly nice in my reply to them as nice as it's going to get anyway.

Elogs will happen as business necessity before mandated. Last look in December we had over 40% of trucks on them. You can't keep your CSA scores in that basic up without them. 0 - 40 percentile will be companies on them. If you don't run then you are basically going to be in the 40th percentile or higher with your first violation.
Running a carrier to broker a load that was mid-40's with 3 form and manor violations. 10 trucks, 15 inspections, he is looking at some of the cheaper solutions because he knows just one so so inspection and he is in trouble.
Business will drive the adoption before regulation. -
