Funny you should ask. Wife and I were seriously considering having me buy a truck...it's something I've wanted to try before I retired. However, just too many things on our plate in the coming years, and we therefore decided it's not worth the investment and level of risk. If I were 43 and not 53, I might be more apt to do it.

So, as I've been doing for over a year now, I'm continuing to get my ducks in a row. There are a heckuvalotta ducks. But a recent fall by mother has me zeroing in applying. She's almost 75, and broke her elbow a month or so ago. Thing is I left L.A. in 1984, and really haven't seen my family a whole lot over the last 30 years. And though Poly doesn't run CA, they have the Vegas facility. Being able to take multiple days off there and being close enough to L.A. to either drive or fly there is a huge deal all of a sudden.

So, the short answer is....I'm gettin' there!:biggrin_2552:

When my truck started making that kind of a noise...I discovered that the keystone cops in the shop didn't torque the rear bolts down on the turbo when the installed it and they backed off enough to let the gasket leak a bit. Sounded like you said, a bad belt, but mine had a mix of a bad reed on a clarinet(or someone who can't play a reed instrument). When I tightened it up, no more noise.

When I refered to the shop office staff as Larry, Curly and Schmo...as in the 3 stooges...I didn't realize how they really do resemble them. Aaron...is Larry, as in Larry The Cable Guy...Tommy is Curly, only a couple hundred pounds lighter...and Mike is, of course, Moe....I won't be able to go in that office without chuckling...and they won't know why. I may have to change the ringtone of the shop from Blues Traveler's "Crash Burn" to the theme song of the stooges with a little Curly shuffle thrown in the mix and a "woooobboooobooobboooo nyuk nyuk nyuk nyuk" at the end.

Hey, if any of you are down in GP today, say happy birthday to my husband, George! He's taking his 34 down there. If you see the little blue mustang, then he's around there somewhere! :)

ETA: He's in truck 3487, by the way.

Made Dallas safe and sound before noon. Not 1 but 2 of the brokers office staff called to make sure I was going to make it since the loading was delayed... my load went to the Conway terminal across the street from the onion place we deliver to...at least it hasn't been too hot so the onion place hasn't started to smell bad over here...but now with the lofting aroma of onions in the air...I'm hungry

So, you want to ignore the "No Parking" sign...wish truckstops had the stones to deal with drivers who ignore the signs in a similar way..

Well, business must be a little better this weekend. It's Friday night and they are saying that it will be close to the assigned load time tomorrow before my load is ready. However I did find out that my backhaul is Riceboro to Houston for the following Monday...so, I'll end up carrying over some miles to the following week...such is life I guess...

Just a fyi to drivers bringing loads to poly from another poly facility. A driver or several are always waiting on those loads. More so at Up North.
