I really miss having a beard but it's worth it. Maybe one of these days I'll get a company that doesn't care. Most of the plants don't care about facial hair, it's just the few that do that screws it all up.

My beard goes away next week, the wife is gonna miss it. With the amount of gray in it these days...

The only time in tanks I have issues with slosh, is when I'm on a very bumpy road. Then its like being punched in the back.
-
The hardest thing about tanks to me is finding what gate to go in at the plant...I know I have to get on a scale and ill usally look for that

When I started out I filled out a 3X5 index card for each plant I went to. Put directions on one side to get there and plant specific directions of procedures once I got there. It still comes in handy for those plants you go to once a year to jog the old memory. I keep them in an accordion style card file alphabetically along with the plant safety card.MACK E-6, realsupatrucka, briarhopper and 3 others Thank this.

Is there a tanker company that will hire a newbie?
Chinatown Thanks this. -
All these companies hire new CDL grads, the websites may show different, but they do hire new CDL grads from 160 hr. or longer schools:
Schneider Bulk
CTL Transportation
Superior Carriers
Airgas
Tidewater Transit
Trimac
SVTNapesride Thanks this. -
I've got a beard (a short one) & my company is letting me keep it. My TM told me there are some customers who would want me to shave it, but him and the dispatcher are trying to keep me away from them.
-
Maybe I'm missing something... do they think the beards will make the chemicals spontaneously combust?
