How long does an accident count against you?

Most companies allow two accidents in 3 years so it shouldn't be an issue. Of course it looks better the more accident free miles in between then and now. Each person is looked at individually and determined if insurable or not.

Depends on the company he applies with. Some companies it won't matter. Some companies bend their own hiring rules for a good candidate. Try Navajo Express. Submit their online application before any phone calls. They have a terminal in Chino.

 

stay away from the megas. no one will ever care. or know.

They can also check his MVR, But, as stated above, chances are being that it was right at 3 years ago, I doubt anyone will even care. Happy hunting.

 

tbrown_sd, If your husband has gone accident and ticket free since his last accident, I would just wait until May 14th and apply to other companies, that way the accident is over 3 yrs old and looks good in the eyes of the future employers Safety Dept. and the company's insurance eyes. And besides, with the way the industry is hurting for drivers, I m sure a lot of companies desperately could use his services

Small companies are not always the best option. Small companies have different insurance than BIG companies. When small companies put a driver on, the underwriter/company have a national database they use to track when anyone files a claim even if there was no accident report filed with the jurisdiction in which it occurred. The rates are to be determined by the driver's liability during the past three years. Bigger companies are "self-insured" on the first million or so. And then there are companies that want three years clean MVR. The DAC is not the only prerequisite to being hired.

 

Hi t, You couldn't convince me for a second, it doesn't go on record forever somewhere. And I have experience in a situation that was supposed to be gone off record after 5 years, and resurfaced 8 years later. You might want to be careful about the Marten incident as well. On one hand, you might not want to put that on a app. and hope they don't check,(which they probably will) on the other hand, you want to be as truthful on an app. as can be. If the new company asks about the Marten deal, tell your husband to be as honest as possible, and let the new company make the decision. If the new company is any kind of decent company, they will realize Marten was full of beans. Good Luck
