Company I am with uses term 'slow freight days'' They designate 4 consecutive days out of the month as slow freight days and ask their drivers. They then ask their drivers to use these days as their days off each month.

Any body familiar with this term

Yes, in form. Probably more specific in your case. With LTL its slow freight months, Nov thru February, and they like you to take holidays then.

Rest of the time its busy month end and beginning, so mid month is preferred for time off.

I put on my whiny driver britches and tell them I'll take MY holidays when I jam well feel like it.

Nothing whiney about that driver. Earned time off is yours that you earned. Failure to plan on their part does not constitute an emergency on your part.

I personally danced to this music for years in the pvt. fleet......."You can't be off cause so and so is off " " You can't have the promotion cause your too valuable where you are" and a host of other party lines......" You don't get that cause your a driver"

No problem.....4q's buddy. I learned the game and then owned it.....I got my time off when I wanted.
