You for sure won't have one if your Bulk either. Bulk can just idle all they want. But they don't have the 14 and 7 off thing either. Still trying to figure out how you make money doing that.....

hey ethos, Im guessing u drive for SNI and Im thinking about going to SNI to pull tankers in the bulk division. Can bulk really idle all they want, or is there some kind of catch to it (no bonus) or will u be getting calls from dm to stop idling so much. Just need a honest answer, so I wont be expecting too much. Comfort is a big deal to me, wouldn't wanna sleep in a hot truck every night. Also does SNI allow inverters, for things like , tv , fridge , or microwave? I heard they didn't allow them.

Yes you can miss a bonus by idling too much, but there are ways around that. No inverters, well none over 300 watts. Basically no fridge or microwave. But nobody will bug you much about idle time.

Thanks for the reply's guys. In a previous post it was mentioned that Roehl specializes in flatbed, and Schneider in tanker-division. What would the benefit be in hauling specialized loads other then dry-van? Is it just for a challenge or is the pay more? My school start date is still a week away so i'm not yet knowledgeable in these areas.

I'm mostly doing the 14-7 program just to get experience to eventually get a LTL or local gig after I feel confident driving OTR. I'm single, with no debt, and a room-mate so I dont have financial obligations to make "big money". Also my gf has an issue with the 3weeks-2months out normally so i'm compromising to do trucking and get away from retail.

Well the advantage to getting away from Van is that the others pay more. I doubt I'll ever drive a Van again. Van freight sucks, terrible customers, tight docks etc.

100% Right!!! I'll NEVER do van again. I easily make twice the money now that I did with Vans and I'm home every night. And a fraction of the headaches.

Look around. Keep and learn from the job you GET, while seeking the job you WANT!!!

I decided to go with Schneider South East Regional since they told me it's 5 days out 2 days home. Would make more then the 14/7 from Roehl. Question is they told me some have APU's but most have sensors to determine if I can run the truck for ac or not.

How hot does it get in these trucks and is their a work around like starting for an hour then when it shuts off start it again?

I have a hard time sleeping in the heat. Keep my house set to an arctic temperature at night.

Only thing keeping me back from signing on fully.

Ambient air temperature sensor. Typically located in the mirror housing on the LH mirror.

Then you won't like it. Look 70 degrees is nice if your outside in the shade. 70 in a truck with the sun hitting you is miserable. You sound like me, I hate sleeping in the heat too.
