Denver truck stops are no better, all the way up into WY.
Too few for the freight running through there. It's really surprising that more have not been built considering the demand.
I see new truck stops being built in out of the way areas, but usually not where they are most needed.
Right here in Pueblo, there could be another one right across the street from the Love's. There is nothing there but dirt.
And if it was there, so would we be filling it up.

the thing I hate the most for hos rules is the 30min break in 8hours, I prefer to stop for 10min at a time every couple hours than having to stop and sit in my seat for 30min straight. I feel the break is worthless and more damaging than helping. Sitting there for 30min straight I start to get where I dont want to do anything anymore and get bored out of my mind.
During my 30min break I packed all my stuff thinking I was going home as usual tonight, when I called to make sure there were no backhauls the ect tells me my loads for tomorrow and I said something about being off and find out that my days off changed without anyone even telling me ahead of time so now im supposed to be off Wednesday and Thursday according to him which really pissed off the wife since she had plans and she is headed out of town for a family thing Wednesday night and will be gone until the weekend. -
Finished my 2 stops in the Bay Area, dropped my trailer at the terminal for a reload and bobtailed home for the day. Planner wasn't sure about a reload last night so I thought I could take care of a bunch of stuff at home like paying my PO Box fee and unloading that spare tire to storage that was strapped to the back of my tractor (I hear DOT doesn't like to see that).
Anyway was up from 0200 and all day. they called to confirm my load is going out tonite (last night). Still not worried, as in the past they hadn't loaded me until about 0200 and I knew I would be there before midnite so would be able to catch a nap.
Fate and Destiny were in a humorous mood because as soon as I pulled in I got the call to go sign the papers and hook up and leave. 657 miles to the first stop, call if there is a problem. You better believe I called lol. No problems, only going to be a couple hours after their original requested delivery time.
At my favorite rest area in Yreka CA next to the river. -
Rapid City, SD.
I was turning down so many pplans today I thought I would get in trouble.
3 of them, all from the same place, and none of them had enough time. They were not short all that much, just 2-3 hours on 1200 mile loads.
It seemed like they were not taking into account picking up in Mountain and delivering in Eastern.
But then I got one picking up in Worland, WY on the 4th going to Jersey City, NJ on the 8th.
300 mt, 2000 loaded, just the right amount of time - preloaded with a live unload.
8K of empty cans... LOOK OUT HILLS!!! I"M A COMIN' THROUGH! -
got to the shipper in chiloquin or couple hours early. was about 5 swift drives waiting for their load too. guess they put 1700 appt for everyone. trailers were all loaded. just took along time for the paperwork to get done. finally left around 1930. stopped at pilot in chimult or for fuel and scale load. drove down to the ta here in coburg or. parked in the overflow dirtlot. place is really packed. got here about 2200. should be in sumner terminal by 1400 to tcall. that 58 hwy is a beautifull drive. a few grades and some narow roads. but couldnt beat the scenery. had some bonehead drive tailgate me as soon as i got on the 58 from the 97. thought he was going to push me he was so close. got on the radio and told him to back off or go around. then i realized radio was still on ch 10 lol. anyways , he passed me few miles down the road and took off. and a few miles from the 5, he's back tailgating me again. guess he pulled off somewhere. i soooooo wanted to breakcheck him,but thought i didnt need an accident
