Ok this week has not been too great for me. I got on the truck around 6/5 Thursday last week. I met my new co driver and he seemed like a good driver. This co driver already been driving for 3 months so he had his truck already. Co driver was an army reservist, seemed like a very conservative type of guy. This guy was a very neat and clean guy. I was okay with that and didn't mind the cleanliness. Even though I saw a few piss bottles lying around. But the introduction was okay. He picked me up from the greyhound and I was on my way starting my career. I was really happy because I enjoy working and being out n the road.
Ok here comes the second day. I go to the ups to pick up a preloaded trailer in san leandro, ca at 12am. I arrive there and they say its not ready and I have to go outside the facility and look for a parking spot. I saw a few bobtail trucks parked in the ups visitors parking lot so I go there. BAD IDEA, I barely squeeze through all the cars. Keep in mind I'm bobtailing. I guess there was not enough room left for any more trucks. So squeeze my way out. On my way out I hear a scratching sound, and realize the fence scratched the outside of the mirrors. My co driver was upset because it was supposedely his truck. He tells me I need to call the irc (incident response center.) I call them and let them know what happens. There was no damage to the fence but the truck side mirrors had a scratch.
Ok now after this incident it all goes downhill from here. Ok now remember my co driver has ocd and wants everything clean, perfect. Because I scratched his mirrors, I noticed his attitude changed a lot. Like now he has a grudge against me. He gives me these dirty smirks from time to time and I can tell he is not happy. I was really upset at myself. I couldn't believe I was so careless and let that happen on my second day! I beat myself up all night mentally and just thinking very negative.well things just got started between my and my co driver. I will be posting another thread about that too.
my first incident

Use this as a learning experience. No real big damage, no injuries, no big deal. I would be upset also if it were my truck, but quickly get over it if only scratched amirror.
Your co-driver ( trainer ? ) only has 3 months ? And you are a student ?
That could be part of the problem right there.foldingorbits and Joetro Thank this. -
Nooo he's my co driver. Just finished my training

Pee bottles. Dude can't be that clean. I been doing this for 17 years and never pissed in a bottle.
blairandgretchen, bubbagumpshrimp, okiedokie and 3 others Thank this. -
Don't deal with it; change companies. Your clown co-driver is suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and it will only get worse. Next thing you know he'll be brushing dandruff off your shoulders & wearing a gas mask & spraying lysol on everything constantly. You can do a lot better than Covenant. Don't waste that CDL school education with some junk co-driver or company.
He's setting you up for failure by telling you to call in over a scratch on a mirror. Now you probably have an incident on your DAC report because of some driver with a mental disorder. If you have a laptop, put in some online applications and set up an orientation date with a better company; once the orientation is set, leave. -
A scratch on the mirror and this guy is giving you attitude? Dude punch him in the gut and knee him in the left eye and give him something to smirk at
Chinatown, foldingorbits and rpad139 Thank this. -

I would find a clear spot, hit the rumble strips and brake hard while screaming. Do that when he goes to sleep. I promise you will get a new co driver
