    Twilight zone? Time warp?
    Back to the future?

I am seriously offended by this post as I never wear button down shirts. I do wear jeans with pocket tees and I really dont care to dress up to go into a truck stop. If I were to associate with civilized people then I would dress accordingly. But since I am always surrounded by truck drivers and shippers/receivers I am simply trying to blend in.

What age was this strange species you speak of? Now if they grew up, like Miranda Lambert's song speaks of, before everything became automatic. I might not be so impressed by what you witnessed, but if that's not the case, in my opinion, you truly saw something spectacular! SMH, highly unusual.

Yes, I think this subject preceded the automatic era, and was highly evolved from the Neanderthal age. In fact, he resembled none of the traits of his knuckle dragging troglodyte companions !

    The good ol' days :

we often hear of truckin' in the good ol' days but I would like to know when that was..

you see, in the 70's I worked as an Ohio State Trooper and my memory of trucking and said drivers were not that great. These were people who drove cross country in day cabs with pillows to sleep on the steering wheel. Showers were rare. And the speed limit was completely ignored as everyone had a triple digit truck.

and let us not forget the big strike when every trucker was heavily armed and shooting at each other like the Hatfields and the McCoys...

I hear guys saying "my grandpa taught me how to drive" and I always think.. " yes, but didnt I put him in jail"

to me.. those are my memories of the good ol' days

After further thought, I might have been witness to this oddity you speak of. They might have been the one of a few hundred that actually get over in another lane when the triangles are out, instead of trying to blow the hat off of this lowly old mechanic's head. Losing my hat in those situations, is the least of my worries. :yes2557:
