Why are you guys arguing with this person? You are doing exactly what he wants. .

Who cares what he believes. . Each of us know the truth and no amount of replies are going to convince him otherwise.

There are people in this world filled with doom and gloom. . Feel sorry for them. . Pray for them. . Help them if you can. . But arguing with them will do nothing for them.

I wish him the best. .I wish OUR fellow veterans the best. .

That being said. . There are predatory companies out there. . They will take advantage of the best of us. . Do your research. . Not just on TTR.. there is the BBB..Ripoff reports..OOIDA.. and FMCSA scores. ..

In the end it comes down to a personal choice. .Choose Wisely.

I still would like to see and actual contract instead of a pay stub.

I am going to stick to my guns. Learn the business really well...sock away a few bucks (yes you will work hard). Then make an educated purchase.

PS. If you do opt to go lease purchase....TAKE THE ENTIRE CONTRACT TO A QUALIFIED ATTORNEY THAT DEALS IN TRUCKING! If the carrier does not let you take the contract to an attorney.....walk away.....run away!!! Last but not least....heed the attorneys advice. I mean listen to it. DOnt try and do pretend trucker math in your head....it wont work like that lol. The attorney is in the know.

To Summarize!!!:biggrin_25516::biggrin_25516::biggrin_25516::biggrin_25516::biggrin_25516::biggrin_25516::biggrin_25516:

Lease purchase is for those who enjoy the carny games on the midway at any 2-bit county fair.

Rule of thumb in this biz is to NEVER EVER lease a truck from the company that controls your freight.

If the business relationship should ever sour, the company holds all the cards. They can starve you out and take your (their) truck back and re-lease it to the next starry-eyed fool.

If you own your own truck, you can lease it on wherever you want.

I am not going to rant and rail anymore about the fleece purchase. I think I made my points.

PS. If you opt not to speak to an attorney....you will get what you get :)

Peace.

I am going to post my 2 cents worth, I have put my qualifications out there before and here is what I have to say about a lease purchase. You can most certainly lose everything you own in a lease purchase, all you have to do is stay home a lot, don't push it when your out, sit in the truck stop and whine about how you can't make any money and don't plan for anything just drive. Any fool can be a loser. I have had lease purchases on new trucks, and used trucks. I have had good weeks and bad weeks and overall have made more money than I would have if I had been a company Driver.

Why would a company want to starve you out The only reason I can think of is none. They would lose in every way, I won't say 100% of all leases but pretty close let the company cancel your lease at any time, some with 30 days notice, some not. So why do they need to starve you to death and lose money at the same time? Resale of trucks? The cost to repair someones truck who is not making money, who is failing, plus the cost to get a new driver in and oriented takes profit out of the question most of the time.

The key is finding a company you can work at and that is individual, I love control, I want to call the shots I don't need to be home to often. When I want to do something take a couple of days off in Florida I don't want anyone telling me no. I want percentage, I want to pick my own freight. These are individual to me. You will have your own, choose the company wisely and plan on working harder and smarter than a company driver. You will have success just keep at it. The reason I put this here is because I think ACT may have the best lease purchase program out their right now. So if your inclined to do lease purchase remember anyone can fail and whine about it. Sorry JJ I just get tired of nay sayers. By the way before anyone says I'm a recruiter I do not now and have not worked for ACT I have talked to them at length about their LP program that's it.

"Why would a company want to starve you out." Many reasons. Probably to recycle the same truck to another wanna be owner operator. I have personally heard that Prime is notorious with that practice.

You bring up very good points in your post
johnn5272000. However, you are an exception to the rule. For the sake of operational a consistency I am sticking to my guns. I am happy everything is going good for you.

Remember this.....
If the business relationship should ever sour, the company holds all the cards. They can starve you out and take your (their) truck back and re-lease it to the next starry-eyed driver!

Things are going good for you so I wish you the best. If they dont...remember you cannot take the truck with you...and you will still be held to the provisions in the contract no matter what. They are holding all the cards...not you. All I am saying is that a driver needs to position to deal with any contingency.....including the company turning into a bunch of cracker heads :)

Lets review....

You have a job offer to work local. If you are a fleece purchase driver odds are you signed a contract. Depending on the contract they could let you turn the truck back in....or you are bound to the contract and they will enforce it despite you leaving. Enforcing the contract means ruining your credit, suing you and possibly having your paycheck garnished at your next job.

PS...thank Obama for the e-logs :)

Moglar.... you are a very negative person and don't know #### really. At first it seems you did your research but after reading your posts you really didn't - you just heard things and assume that's the same with every company.

You Sir are one uninformed driver, I really hope you never attempt to set a foot here at this company.

Not sure why you are still even posting here...and as bad as it is, I must be an idiot too to even waste my time and reply to you, but won't anymore and hopefully others won't waste their valuable time on you either.

Good luck to you with all your future failures and complaints.

Sryan.. I'm am by no means encouraging you to leave ACT. .if you do decide to leave, don't burn your bridge.

Simply contact ACT. . Explain your circumstances. . They will route you to the yard. . Don't quit under a load. . Now for the bad. .

The contract basically says that you can change your mind and either purchase the truck Or possibly return to ACT. . During those 30 days your truck will sit by the fence. . And you will continue to make your payment out of your maintenance account. The truck will also be serviced, detailed. Unfortunately, any money owed to you will be used and most likely you will owe ACT money.

I know all this because I had to turn my first truck in and come off the road for 9 months. . But when I was ready to return, ACT is the only company I contacted. .I left ACT the right way and when I wanted back in the accepted me, No questions asked.

And btw..... nothing EVER showed on my credit report. ....I was never contacted about the $1, 000 I owed ACT. .

I don't know you, but if anyone ever has the opportunity to better themselves or their circumstances, how could anyone fault them? I hate to see anyone leave ACT. . But if they do, I'd wish them the best.
