I heard they suppose to be creating a trailer pool over there..would that be beneficial to the drivers?

Yes L/O can get their service done anywhere otherwise they have an argument to be called employees. Doesn't stop the company from putting out major guilt trip posters showing the prices of oil changes at Kenworth as opposed to a Swift shop though.
Also it is funny you call it a BIT inspection. All the DM's in California call it a BIT inspection evidently. I believe a BIT inspection is strictly for California and is virtually the same as a Federal DOT inspection but perhaps missing 1 or 2 items that the Feds require. Therefore Rapid Response in Phoenix will not accept a California BIT inspection in lieu of a Federal DOT inspection. It's a little bit of semantics at play, but California CHP will accept a Federal DOT inspection performed every 90 days in lieu of the California BIT biennial inspection. What is even more interesting to me is that the DM will still call it a BIT inspection even though on the Swift website itself they instruct L/O not to get a BIT inspection as it does not satisfy the Federal DOT requirement.

Even the company I am with now calls it a BIT inspection lol. I had turned in my 90 day DOT inspection from New Mexico, he asked me next time to get it done at a shop in California as he didn't think CHP would accept it lol. Evidently CHP likes to swarm on my company's offices occasionally and look at all their paperwork.

Yes there is a lot of buzz going on about the trailer pool. Did talk to one planner who is a little skeptical because she has trouble providing enough freight for her live loads let alone preloading trailers and most of the terminals don't have room for excess trailers.

yeah and whats the price difference? is it worth sitting in a Swift shop for a day, 2 days....?
I think its worth paying a little extra to have a pro work on your truck...

Just got my phone call and looks like I finally make my first run to Vegas tomorrow and its a sweep, Google shows 297 miles each way from the DC but I doubt I will make a return completely because of grades and stuff but maybe I will get back fairly close at least.

Starting orientation for mentoring in a few minutes. I'm in Greer. Got here Tuesday evening and yesterday did a quick two hours of work swapping empties at a local business, made $50.I'm told that changing into a new truck will be predicated on whether I graduate, so couldn't take care of that yesterday afternoon. The only new trucks they have in the lot are KW T680's. I might pass and see if I can make a swap elsewhere.I discovered yesterday, after doing a test on the local rolling hills, that my jake won't kick in as expected when I have the cruise control on. I'd thought that perhaps it simply had a larger "lag" than the Cascadia's and KW T680 I'd driven before, but even with cruise set at 58 mph it still went right on up to 66 mph without ever kicking in, which is why I've had to constantly kick in and out of cruise this last week.I'm still getting the "Water in Fuel" warning whenever it rains. Never comes on when it isn't raining. I hope to be rid of this POS truck soon....

I was told by a terminal manger that the 680s are being given to mentors instead of freightliners. Good luck on your class and new truck.

The only truck I have driven where the jakes come on while the cruise is on is the newer Volvo with the jakes set in the "A" position. You can then adjust the MPH that you want the jakes to engage. I may be wrong, but I would not expect the jakes to come on at all while cruise is on.
