So is the idea sort of like ... Example : i will be arriving Friday and unloading ...ready to go again Saturday morning ? .... is this what i would say to them ?

I dont quite understand ' getting on the board '

so far they have me setup to go without me even having to call them

i think at first they put u on if they kno when u will b empty just to get u used to it, if u dont have hrs or are running short just tell them to put u on the next day, or u can try an get a load with more time on it, i once didnt have hrs but took a mom/pop an set the appts so i had time to take 34.

heres a few examples: u get a backhaul from poltex goin straight to cottage grove, u would then call outbound and let them kno when u want to be on the board for cottage grove

or u get an outbound load from gp that delivers near cottage grove, outbound will kno when u are empty and usually just put u on board for cottage grove when they give u the outbound load from gp

also remember even tho ur on the board anywhere u dont have to take a load if ur hrs dont allow it, but u can always take a mom/pop and set appts, for example i have load out of cottage grove that was ready this morn but im at dealership in kansas city for repairs, it doesnt really matter cuz the load im on is a transfer from poltex to cottage grove and can b there whenever, and the load out of cottage grove is a mom/pop that i will set appts when i get there, if they needed either load there sooner they would let me kno an take it off me, only appt loads like walmart and big chains have set appts that cant b missed

when u put urself on the board at any of our plants u call the same outbound number for all of them.

lets say u have a backhaul goin to vegas, outbound will prob kno u are gonna be there and may call to get u on the board there so they can plan ahead, if u get there mon but need a reset just tell them to put u on wed, its up to u to tell them what u can do

another example is i took a load that delivered near home on tues but i put in for a backhaul on fri and went home, i wouldv taken more time off but i was trying to plan for time off on the 4th, its up to u to kno where the loads go and where u will end up, example if ur in cottage grove and want to get back to tx u would b better off takin a load goin east than west cuz just about all backhauls from the northeast go back to tx.

hope i didnt confuse u but outbound an backhaul just wants to kno when u are ready
for a load, its our job to tell them cuz we are the ones with the logbooks, but like i said mom/pop loads can be set by u, as long as u are running the 2000 wk avg
and respond to any load within 7 business days i wouldnt worry, tho sometimes they need a load covered that nobody wants but its up to u if u have hrs

also forgot to say if u get back to any plant u can put urself on for a load that same day even if u need to take a 10 hr break when u get there then drive at night if u want, it doesnt matter when ur load leaves only that u can deliver it on time

also i think at first they keep track of u and put u on the board and even for backhauls to get u used to it but later they leave it up to u, thats what they did with me and i thought the same thing.

Any time I get a backhaul that is close enough to our plants to roll back (roll back is when you deadhead to the plant empty, usually within 100 or so miles, if you aren't sure if your backhaul delivery is close enough, just ask when they are giving you your broker info), as soon as I get off the phone with the broker with the delivery appointments, I call Outbound and tell them when I want to run. If I am going to use most of my hours, or it's one of those customers known for lengthy unloads, I just have them put me on the board for the following day...and the load board is just a list of names on a notepad that they write your name down on and what day you say you'll be ready...that way they keep up with who's next on the list. After a few weeks, it becomes 2nd nature. Every time I get dispatched on an Outbound appointment load, they usually confirm when you'll be available. The normal expected time to be available is usually 2 hours after your appointment, but if you want to change when you'll be ready, all you have to do is tell them. On backhauls I always send in a q/comm message with my expected time to be ready, that way it is in writing in the system.

after a while, they don't do it for you, at least on outbound. You'll have to tell them when you're ready for an Outbound load. (Backhauls are pretty much set based on when you tell outbound you'll be ready). Once you know when you are going to be available for an outbound load, just call outbound and tell them to put you on the board for which ever plant you'll be at. There are times that I am picking up a back haul in the northwest, and my delivery isn't for 4 or 5 days...but, as soon as I know the appointment time, even though I am 2000+ miles away...I call Outbound and tell them where and when I'll be ready for my next load. The sooner you call, the higher up the list of names you are. The only exception is home time. If you are wanting to go home, give them at least a week notice and they put a note on your truck in the computer, and your name gets priority on a load to get you home.
It sounds confusing, but it isn't once you've done it for a month or two.

You said the load delivers to the Up North plant and you'd be there Friday...so that is a drop...if you have hours to run after you drop, put yourself on that days board. If you have to take a break once you drop, then put yourself on the next day's board. But put yourself on the board as soon as you know your eta. And at Up North...usually the weekend loads are ready by Friday evening. They have limited staff on the weekend, so they knock out the weekend loads before they leave on Friday.

The down side of this Reno load that I am on, I will be 4 hours short of making it to Reno in time to do a 34 there. I am gonna do some figuring to see if I can squeeze one in over the weekend so I don't have to live on recap hours next week.

Mev, to ease your concern about home time and the 8000 mile requirement. Don't worry about it. I took 7 1/2 days off this month, and I still managed to turn in 8325 miles by the 26th. In fact, if I could count the miles on this Reno run(which I will have there by the 30th), I would have put 10,100+ miles in this month...but, the 1800+ miles on this load will just give July a good start. And I really didn't push myself except on a few days right after leaving home.

I know these questions have probably been answered somewhere in this thread, but after going through over 100 pages, I haven't seen them answered recently. I hope ya'll don't mind but here goes, and if you don't feel comfortable answering in public, please feel free to PM me.
What kind of trucks does Poly run?
    Do they have APU's, inverters?
    Are ya'll on elogs?
What is Poly's compensation package now?
    Insurance any good?
    Paid orientation, how much?
    Slip seat or assigned truck?
Thanks ahead of time for any responses to these questions, I really appreciate it. It sounds like everyone that posts here is very happy with Poly. Sounds very intriguing.
