Today I was able to mark off one of the last major cities that I have not driven through. I unloaded in MD and bounced up to RI through NYC. For the last 8 years I have heard nothing but horror stories about NYC and I've tried to avoid it. After running up through jersey and across the GWB at 6pm and finally up north on 95, I have realized that just like most of the other stories I've heard, the whole avoid the Northeast is pretty much exaggerated. Now I'm sure delivering downtown or in manhattan isn't much fun but I was surprised with how it's not much different than San Francisco or Los Angeles. I'll be back!
On Wednesday I load in Newport, RI for Seattle and then going home for a few days. It's been a great month out especially with taking my reset in Washington DC and being able to go to the Smithsonian's!

You must not have gone thru during morning rush hour, or on friday afternoon rush hour. I used to run Long Island every week. Trust me, the stories are true.
HalpinUout, Bigdubber and Lone Ranger 13 Thank this. -
It was a Monday at 5pm. The traffic wasn't any worse than running LA during rush hour. It didn't get bad until I hit CT with a 11 mile backup for no reason

we were close, I was on I-84 in ct at the t/a at 6 pm

Nothing like a challange coming thru well.
Expect the worse and it's normally gets better.Bigdubber Thanks this. -
If you run through on the Cross Bronx like that it really isnt that bad most of the time. Like most major cities you learn what the patterns are for bad traffic and either avoid the area at those times or learn to deal with them. Coming back out traffic will always slow about the 4 on the CBE But it only take about 45 inutes to clear the GWfrom there. on the whole I would much rather face NYC than the LA basin just because the LA basin can bite you anywhere at anytime. that said I have been stuck on the cross bronx for as much as 6 hours before but that was a rare occasion.

I ran up 95, and the Cross Bronx up to Bridgeport to load , No problems at all, just slow as usual, an of course expensve. That was on last Monday
