I don't "exercise" because I get a workout every single day at my job and I play competitive hockey twice a week. Besides, I couldn't stand going to a gym and watching everyone take selfies of themselves in the mirror instead of putting in work.

883BedomRider, you are sooo right... :yes2557: I agree with practically everything you posted. Some folks are lazy... Yes, this job can put time restraints and other limitations in our lives... But that can be overcome if one has the will. However, so many folks just don't care... :biggrin_25512:
I drive about 10 hrs a day and after that, I walk around and under truck doing very thorough inspection, jump on the front tires, clean windshield and all windows every day. Sometimes I sweep trailer, park far from entrance of truck stop so I can walk some... I do a "power walk" and run whenever I have the time and the opportunity... And there are opportunities... :yes2557: I do my groceries once a week and cook my own vegetarian food practically every day... even if I am tired... I disciplined myself to do so.
I am a middle age female. Not fat at all. Actually I am bone skinny... only 100 lbs. It's in my gens... But I think that a healthy diet and physical activity is good in all aspects, specially for truck drivers.
My suggestion to the original poster is, read the threads in this forum about cooking in the truck, eating healthy food, exercising in the truck and while on the road. :biggrin_25519:

I do quite a bit of walking. I try to walk a mile or so at least every other day. I also try to watch what I eat the best I can. I carry a lot of my own food instead of hitting the fast food joints. I do try to enjoy a hot sit down meal in a diner, etc... once a week or so.

    FTR, I'm 5'10 and weigh 150 lbs. :)

One look at social media tells me all I need to know. But to the contrary, I have been to the gym many times in my life. I used to weight train pretty heavily a few years ago before I just focused on cardio.

My exercise consists of waking up lighting a cigarette right away so i can see, walk outside take a dump behind someone else s truck and in front of their reefer, go back in truck, Drive to fuel isle, light another cigarette between there and the front doors go inside and then I get exercise, I did 4 laps around the buffet line while parked in the fuel isle sat down ate my food, stopped by cooler bought 4 mountain dews, and filled my 3 gal coffee jug. Got a cigarette in my mouth before i even exit lit it walked out the doors and go into my truck, put my diabetes socks on, lit another cigarette as soon as I finished that one in 2 min I drive off to work the rest of the day. I am a certified trucker!

That's nothing..I have a company required cpap machine that forces cigarette smoke into me while I sleep.Seems my physical showed I wasn't getting enough smoke while I slept.I volunteered for the lard/gravy IV mix that stays on a slow drip when Im not able to eat.I wake up,and get on my cb and offer to fight anyone in the area, but refuse to waste time cleaning myself.

I have too but the truth is cigarettes and poor hygiene play a big part of that. Some of these drivers remind me of Smegal from "Lord or the Rings"

IF I was guaranteed a shower after every workout, I would exercise. Until this magical day happens, I keep my caloric intake to under 1,000 calories per day when my butt is in truck.

One. Dont get me wrong but ive seen some hefty big people in the flat bedding industry. Im not talking about big boney muscles. Im talking like lards of fat. Two. Like the other comments. This industry is all about driving paperwork getting #####ed at and buffet. So when does one gets of his horse and do a excersise or two. God forbid we wouldnt want too see a trucker going too the hospital for at least a 10 min walk. 3. I stay in shape il tdy try too run a mile or so when i have time and if the weather permits. Hell il even run in tx in 100 degree weather long as it aint raining. Point being said truck drivers are lazy its no wonder we see piss bottles and bags of poop in the truck stop parking lots or even at customers cause there too lazy to throw it away in a trash thats not even 200 feet from them. Personally i hate being fat which is why i excersise. Now i will admit i cheat every now and then but im too the point where i stop it. Il have a 500 calorie breakfast which consist of peanut butter and bananas along with gronola bars for high fiber. Once my day is done run a mile or 2. Do 100 pushups and thats it. I still have enough energy for the next day no matter how many miles i do. I also do ab crunchs by hanging half my but on the sleeper a little cardio never hurts inside least u have A/C.
