E log vs paper

Sad thing is, this conversation wouldn't even be going on if, the FMSCA, was willing to make common sense rules.

 

I didn't know that but can't you chose the company you work for???

 

I dont mind certain guidlines as long as they make since and truly promote safety but most of the changes since 09 have had more negative than positive impact on safety.

 

Yep to a degree age of trucks keeps some of us limited and or home time/pay I put up with this due to being home every weekend and they took both my trucks. Don't mean I am not vocal to them about it either they put them in for insurance purposes. I find something else that takes care of my needs and on paper I am gone till I get everything worked out for being the company

 

Yes, and I chose one that doesn't have nannies in the truck and if they jump on the e-log bandwagon, my truck and I will go elsewhere.

 

You control your income more. I've sat at shippers 4-5hrs before, that doesn't stop me from from driving 11, an elogger is already in the hole for day. You'll see those with no choice but to run elogs will say they're good, and they should or they'll be frustrated pissed off drivers all day, I get that. But the income doesn't compare.

 

Then why ##### about them if not being forced upon you??? You can say no, at least for now

 

How are you in a hole walstib? On your 14 yes on 11 no. I do 15 mins at customer and then im off duty

 

Ok, you've pulled into a customer from, lets say a truck stop. You've used a total of 45 minutes so far, pre trip and driving. Now..... your at the shipper/rcvr for 6 hrs. You only have 7.25 hrs left you can use. On paper, I just move the lines around (if I'm feeling froggy) and bingo, I was only at the the shipper/rcvr for an hour. See where we're going?

Dont matter that you was smart and spent that time sleeping or atleast resting your body not playing games and are refreshed.
Heck I would be more refreashed than I am after a 10hr since I only get 6hrs sleep at a time anyways then sit 4 hrs waiting for a clock to say I can go.
But for real a smart elogger would probably sit 2 more hrs and have 10:15 min drive(if company has not disabled split sleeper and if they let them stay on property) as long as its not a super tight run should be fine but we all know all runs tend to be tight and paper made it easier
