    Dedicated accounts are usually a little bumpy when they first start out. You would think that as large as a company and as long as they've been around (swift and Walmart) that there would be some kind of standard operating procedures that would make for a smooth transition, but every account and dc has their own little quirks.

    I ran for a target dc in Denton, TX and then I switched over to a DC in Columbus; exact same account but there were a few different procedures and they just built this DC and started running in march so they are still working out a few kinks.

    If you're still wanting to run dedicated, the guys over in Denton have been doing it a while so it is pretty smooth over there. I left because the DC in Columbus is much closer to home for me, but I see you are located in Denton. If you want their number I can give it to you. They are mostly team trucks, but they do run some solo trucks, I don't know how good the miles are for solo but they were pretty good about taking care of their teams.

    for new dc's or swift taking over a dc having issues also has a lot to do with the manager getting the job, they dont know the stores, the process etc etc so yeah there will be issues. Just like when I went down to help the DC in Fontana the guy didnt really know what he was doing, he kept asking me how we did things out of the Shafter DC.

    rapid city sd. dropped the target load here and ran over to flying j for my ten. just as i got here, the sky opened up. hail, rain, and very strong winds. wish i could get into store without getting soaked. sit here rocking and rolling till it calms down. hit a bad one in buffalo gap. winds and heavy rain. dropped down to 35 mph. was about 3 miles of it. had dodge a few cells before that one. be safe all

    I hear ya I had a jit load and a hyper focus load yesterday.....all on time until about 40 miles outside of Spartanburg sc the sky dumped! But really I find that unless it's just really to heavy rain or windy in a thunderstorm best and quickest thing to do is keep driving...you'll get thru it faster that way...but it sucks to have to wait for it to quit raining just to take a piss or a crap,or whatever u have to do,lol.....:biggrin_25523:

    On the load from Detroit to (stop1) Denver and (final ) Salt Lake City, they had stacked equipment and pallets on top of other equipment that clearly had signs stating 'No Stacking'. Plus the stuff was sticking outside the plane of the trailer and couldn't close the doors.I was able to run a logistics strap around the equipment back to the logistics post and ratchet it very tight and pull it back into the trailer. The load arrived just fine although wasn't too confident about it en route.

    Have been running a lot of parked regens lately and got a dpf injector (Dozer) fault so have been sitting in SLC KW all day and night. EGR valve is plugged so had them put a new one on as well.

    In WA south of Tacoma at a Cabela's.

    I picked up a load in Auburn, WA with less than 3 hours on my 70. I'm headed to Tracy, CA.
    I got there after hours, so the paperwork was in a folder on a desk - along with 2 other identical loads. None of them had the numbers that I received on the load assignment.
    It took half an hour, after calling my DM, just to figure out which load I was supposed to take.

    I had 2 hours left when I began to drive, right into rush hour traffic.
    I've never seen it so bad around here, not that I get here that much. But in those 2 hours I made 35 miles.
    I was trying to get to the Pilot on I-5 x99, but no way could I do that. Luckily there was this Cabela's at exit 111. I got here with minus 2 minutes on my 70.
    I 'adjusted' some on-duty time to off-duty, so now I am at plus 2 minutes until more hours come in at midnight.

    After I got here I noticed the 'No Overnight Parking' sign. I went in to check and was told I'll be fine staying here for the night.

    This is the first time my daughter has been in a Cabela's. She totally loved it. We walked around for over an hour looking at all the stuff, the stuffed animals, the boats... She was so amazed that a single store could have so much - even fish tanks!
    She really liked the gun and archery sections. (This is my little tom-boy daughter. No fluff and frills or Barbie dolls for her!)

    And then from Tracy I'll only be taking loads getting me to my next home time in MN.
    We can't wait to get out of here. Since picking up Leann in Denver nearly 3 weeks ago we have been bouncing around the northwest. Nothing much but Montana, Idaho, Washington, Utah, Nevada... - back and forth, up and down.
    Boring.
    A very pretty part of the country, but it gets very boring.
    We've survived Cabbage 3 times in 3 weeks. And I've only been over it twice before in 3.5 YEARS!

    When we get to MN I'm going to talk to one of the planners to request a load out that gets us somewhere east of there.
