I was making that rate at Sysco in 94. Does that answer your question?

So how much money does a food service class b driver make on average where your at? And did they get you your class A? Along with that i dont know the O/P's exp or history. Not tbe best pay if he was up here but pretty much no matter what you do class B your hard pressed to break 17 an hour, there are a few nicth jobs roll off garbage truck union gig that will get you better but not likely to be much "easier" and getting his A with them. And most that would pay top dollar want plenty of exp. Just my take

Save yourself the trouble, go drive a concrete mixer or roll off. 15 an hour for slinging cases should be a crime.

Yup, they make sound like you'll have a life cause your home everyday. You start at 2-3am and work 12-14hrs just so you will make good money. We you get off you have enough time to basically eat and go to bed cause your worn out. Get up at 1-2am and repeat. Then yes you get the weekend off but your worn out and then sun night comes quick, going to bed early sun 7-8pm while everyone is still enjoying their sun sucks.

I make 16 an hour now working in construction and actually have a future of being a site superintendent. I'm thinking I'm better off where I'm at now, I don't work very hard now as it is always. .... :biggrin_25513:

I do this every day. I'm tryin to tell y'all there is money in it. Especially if you don't have any cdl experience. I have 1 day every other week that I work 12 hours. The rest of my days are around 10. Occasionally 11 and often even 8 or 9. I bust my butt all day but it's great exercise. I don't have to do any cardio outside of work anymore. Im also getting experience from it so after a couple years I can get with a great ltl company. I promise you it's not bad like everyone on here is saying. I've made almost double what a friend has this year and he went for an otr company at the same time I got my job. And next year I'll make more than him too. Brand new car. Buying a house as we speak. And I will still have at least a grand a month to save. Then I have an extra 4-5 grand in bonuses a year. We worked 4th of July. Our holiday pay works as a percentage of our weekly pay. On the 4th, I got my regular route pay and my holiday came to be an extra $194 on top of that. And the company I work for isn't even a good one!!! All I'm sayin is man don't give up on this idea because all of these people tell you it's bad. If you do it and especially if you get a cdl out of it, you will not regret the decision.

I'd rather sleep at home with my wife for 7 hours than 10 alone in my truck. I been looking into a food service company. It's a little different than ones out there I'll see how it works out.
