As last reported had unloaded in Fresno and reloaded for delivery to Livermore CA. Got reloaded there for Sumner WA. Was home all weekend and picked up load Sunday night after being up all day. Normally what I do is grab the load and head to Lodi CA J and do 2 hour break right there to get some rest then jam north as far as I can then do an 8 hour sleeper break and finish the load.

My tractor gauge was showing legal weight but I thought to better weigh it on the cat scale to see just how much fuel I could take on, and it was 35500 on the trailer ooops. So now I had to return back to Livermore to rework it and they were pretty upset that I couldn't just tear up my log and start over to get the load on time. Nobody said those words, but you get the definite feeling that that is the tacit policy. I couldn't do it because I already crossed the Livermore scales and have a transponder in the truck and couple that with it being a hazmat load just asking for a logbook lookover Ironically I ran all the scales with just a simple roll-thru looksee, no body called me in for a closer look. Though my company has a poor CSA score, the DOT and I are like this ||

That's the beauty of e-logs, pretty hard to do what they were (silently) asking.

And that's also the reason that independent O/Os are so against e-logs. The want/need to cheat in order to make a buck. I've given up keeping track of the number of trucks that I see back into a spot AFTER I'm parked only to see then pull out BEFORE my 10 is up. Yes, I realize some of them could be doing a split but most drivers are clueless as how to make a split work LEGALLY!

A bit into my drive today I got a message with a new delivery appointment that was for 0400 tomorrow.
Let's see, 190 miles to go and 3 minutes left on my 70. Hours don't roll in until 0300 local time.
0400? Don't thing so. I sent a Mac 22 earlier saying 0800 for delivery, citing the 25% extra miles on this load. 451 loaded but 570 actual.
I told them that 25% more miles = at least 25% more drive time!

I also called my DM to let him know that I like the new pay schedule, but not if I'm going to be shorted 25% each trip. He said to send him a QC before I do my mt call with the route and cities at each road change, and he would get the miles adjusted.

Segovia, TX. My t-call that I was supposed to pu this morning, well, arrived 3 hours late. Reason, flat tire. Mac 30, keep getting a Houston to Monee, IL. Nope, wrong area for drop on Saturday plus my clock starts at 0700 and the pu is scheduled for 1800. Do not like running it that close and then have to find a place to park around Houston at that time of night.

yeah I see it all the time, park somewhere and see trucks come in hours after me and then leave before I do, I figure most are probably paper logs.

Splits are actually quite easy once you COMPLETELY understand the concept AND you let the QualCom help you.

Example: I DO NOT like to drive late at night. Tonight I'm picking up a load in Modesto, CA (@2200) headed to Phoenix. My plan is to jump over to I-5 and stop at the rest area about 60 miles north of Lost Hills. I'll do the 8-hour sleeper berth portion there which will stop both my 11 & 14 hour clocks and let me drive legally during the day. Then I'll run to Palm Springs and take my 2 hour break. This is more efficient than taking a full 10 at the rest area because as long as I time it right I DO NOT need to take a 30 minute break. And since my 11 & 14 both restart based on what time I finished the first break I'll have enough time to legally make it to Phoenix, something otherwise impossible starting from Lathrop.

    Make sense?

Flying J in Baytown. Woke this morning and did a MAC 30 and snagged me a nice 1550 mile load to Carson, CA. Little heavier than I like, but it does not pick up until 1000 and delivers at 0900 on Monday. Snagged me a nice new 15 series trailer at my drop and all is good, plus 2 brand new ratchet straps courtesy of Swift since customer requires at least 2, or load locks. They are more than the straps. Plus I have lost what I did have in trailers that I used them and then all of a sudden becomes a drop and can not break the seal.
