It's not fair to assume. From 2001-2002 I ran a linehaul route for FEDEX Ground between the eastern Dakotas and Minnesota every night and was home everyday. The contractor I worked for gave me a brand new Volvo 770 with a 550 Detroit and a 13 speed in it. Truck would run 75MPH.
Fedex freight or ground ?

Ground: Nice paychecks, Depends on contractor for benefits/ Unit equipement. Not a career for the long duration.
Freight/Express : Decent pay,Work for Fedex , Have time in to bid on Package car to air pilot . Don't have to worry about your contractor losing your job.
Fedex is a weird company. I wish they would step up their game and actually compete with UPS with wages.
Package car ( express ) makes $16.50 hr with 3 years in. UPS = no comparison. make 2- 3 x more and pension.
Fedex is looney with wages and corporate structure.
Overall not a bad company, Just is a very dang weird company.
PS: not bashing Fedex or it's employees. You folks even have to admit it's weird

If asking me. Negative, not employed or former employed by any fedex enties.
Was on the other end (UPS) and have friends still employed by fedex.
Seriously not a bad company, Do your research. It's confusing. -
very confusing...Fedex freight/ground....UPSF
different companies...different experience for each driver i think -
Just takes some organization of the mind.
Then there's the Union and non union part of it! -
union and non'union ...I will choose the one that garrantee me stable work and excellent pay....dont care about all the rest and political side of it
blairandgretchen and road_runner Thank this. -
FedEx Freight for linehaul they make top out around .60cpm of more. But your in that truck with the door shut. Sometimes stopping besides your 30 min can put you behind. Lots of money to be made though.
FedEx ground is good if your inexperience. That's about it. If you don't own the truck. If you work for a contractor you'll mAKE maybe .40cpm. No bennies either. It's good on a resume though got jobs cause I worked there. Being a o/o with a co driver you can make good money.
Both management structures really look down on drivers. So don't expect a pat on the back from them. College grads with no trucking exp. You can't even be dispatcher unless you have a degree.blairandgretchen, Shaggy and PALOU Thank this. -
You said,"super fast trucks."
Only drugs would make a FedEx truck appear, "SUPERFAST."
Especially freight... LOLGenericUserName Thanks this. -
Freight Freight Freight. Ground is o/o or driving for a leased fleet. No comparison.
Radman Thanks this.
