I'm 20, I live in Italy and I already have a license (a car license) here. I know you need to be 21 to get your CDL and I downloaded some courses online but I'm not sure about the politics and legal ways to work as a truck driver in the USA. I don't know any truck drivers who work in the USA because, well, I live in Italy, but do you know how some foreigner could work there ? Since I was a kid I loved trucks and now I also love driving, I'd love to give it a try. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated, I wish all of you a great day :)

Get a plane ticket to Mexico and try to cross the border. This president will hook you up with citizenship, a place to live, food, and probably anything else you need until you are 21.
By then you will know what you need to do to get a driving job. Easy as pie if you are not American.

Why not stay and drive truck in Italy? Foreigner's, especially eastern european variety have came too America on promises of high paying trucking jobs but did little but dilute truckers pay.

So you're saying there's a chance ..:shock:lol. I don't know about the rules but what does it mean ?I often hear about mexicans getting deported.

I do not like Europe at all, I traveled in many countries (USA included: California, Texas and New York) and I loved it, it just looks and feels better. But by your comment I might think that we, foreigners, do not have good chances of working there because we are looked down upon by other american drivers ?

Klaman, Most people are going to look at you as if you are trying to steal their jobs. I'm sorry to say I have no advice to give you but I wish you luck and hope that you are able to find a life that you enjoy.

Thank you for your answer sir, may I ask: you had a sponsor who helped you with your green card or how did you get it?

Thank you for your support Tai, I do realize that's how a lot of people see foreigners, just like some italians see foreigners as dirty criminals who are stealing their jobs. But I must say it's a free world (thank God) and everyone can move and follow their dreams. I have no problem if someone from an eastern european country comes to Italy looking for a job, as long as it's legal and he's paying his taxes, but that's just my humble opinion.

You will need to begin at the US Embassy in Italy. Begin the immigration process now and in a few years you may have immigration papers to begin the process of moving. Once here, getting a driving job is easy.
