Maybe you don't realize that Mercer is O/O only. We have a few fleet owners with a few trucks that might have speed governed but I can't imagine any O/O working for a company that would require their truck to be goverend
We do have some O/O that run canada and I would expect they have something like the bully dog to change the governer because of the canada law.

Could you "enlighten" me on this? I am a new O/O and I recently ran into Canada but I don't know anything about Canadian speed governed trucks and the "Bull Dog" thing. Thanks.

In Ontario and Quebec all big trucks are required to be governed at 65 mph or less. I think the fine might be $500. There are electronic devices you can buy and plug into your engine computer to adjust power settings. One brand is Bullydog. Maybe these devices can be used to change top speed setting. I have never used one.Bigdubber Thanks this.

If you get an inspection at a scale, in Canada, they can plug into your computer to check your speed govern setting. Canadian law is something like105KM for commercial trucks.
From Pittsburg Power you can buy a dash monitor plug in called bullydog. With this you can change many settings on the fly. I think it costs approx. $2600. Check out their web site.Bigdubber Thanks this. -
Whatever happened to Vince L.
Last I heard, he was headed to Mich. to pickup a big house. -
How about some opinions on a truck?
this is a TMC truck, 379 Pete, 475 hp Cat, 3.55 rears, 13 speed, '2006/2007 model, somewhere between 950k to 120m miles. Says they are o/o spec. Leather seats, double bunks, 63 in sleeper.
Priced from $38k to $43k.
Worth looking into? -
There are specific areas in Canada that require trucks be governed to a max of 65 MPH and they check for it at roadside inspections.
A flash tuner (like super chips tuner for an F250 but for semis) can set a governed speed so you are legal in Canada. Once you leave you can set it back. There are shops near border crossings that charge to do this as well.Bigdubber Thanks this. -
They have them as low as $1600 iirc on the websiteBigdubber Thanks this.

Easy there flight line. I know mercer is all o/o. There are plenty of other o/o companies who govern trucks. It was just a question.

I'm easy. So please enlighten me as to who requires their owner operators to be goverened unless they are lease purchase guys and we just don't consider lease purchase the same around here.
Travelinman Thanks this.
