what have you done in bad situations

Back when I started driving, I got really sick. Worst ear infection I ever had! High fever, dizzy, nausea, and the pain! This was before cell phones. I managed to call dispatch and told them I was sick. The next time I called them was 3 days later when I felt better. I parked as close to the truck stop as possible and sweat it out! In the end, my ear drum perforated and what poured out of my ear was so gross! Today, I would call my company and take a cab to the closest hospital or urgent care. I have called the company I now work for, told them I was sick and they sent me right home. Got someone else to finish my run. But I don't think you get treated like that at most carriers! I happen to drive for some great people now!

 

If you're too sick to drive, park it and get some rest. It is illegal to operate a CMV while sick or fatigued. Worst case scenario, dispatch has to reschedule your delivery.

if you turn down a road you shouldn't be on, you can either find a place to turn around, or if that's not possible, try to back out the way you came. Worst case scenario, you may have to call the local PD to block traffic so you can back out. Worst worst case scenario, you call a wrecker to pull you out. This scenario, however, is easily avoidable with proper trip planning and a little common sense.

If you have a case of the green apple trots, you should plan ahead and know exactly where every truck stop and rest area on your route is located. Stop often. Worst case scenario, you carry a roll of TP and hand sanitizer in the truck in case you have to #### in the woods.

 

Got really sick while driving only once knock on wood....... I hardly ever get sick. I just got a hotel for two days. Slept the whole time except when hugging or sitting on the throne...

 

If your sick, let your dispatcher know, then park somewhere safe and rest.

For bathroom emergencies, some people keep a small porta potty or bucket in the truck, and a strong brand of garbage bags and deoderizer... Lol

 

Im going to design a toilet seat with a bracket to attach to the DOT bumper like the ones for hunters/campers that fits a car/truck hitch receiver. Dont steal my idea

 

Don't eat at the truck stop and you won't get the " ##### "

you pack your cell phone with the you and an app called mydat.

it'll tell you walmarts. truckstops. rest areas. worse case. a place you can stop somewhere. Google maps for home depot or what not.

Gots to be creative for them special emergencies. trees do just fine if you can find some privacy.

always pack toilet paper. even rest areas can be empty of paper.
