Had some dealings with Jost fifth wheel No matter what the warranty says it is only as good as the company. In my opinion this company is not good the representative said sound like you bought a truck with a worn out fifth wheel that's kinda your problem. My reply was no I bought a truck with one of YOUR fifth wheels that was worn out in 300000 miles and you warranty them for 5 yrs 500,000 miles. Reply was, well maybe the previous owner took the trucks off road. I haven't seen May trucks pulling their reefers off road but who knows those crazy Ice cream manufacturers may be building plants in some remote place

Western Peterbilt in Seattle if your out this way and need work call them they have bent over backwards to help me out. Naturally everything about replacing a fifth wheel that could go wrong has gone wrong

I will agree though if someone is sitting, they are probably waiting for freight to a specific terminal or something. They always ask "where do you want to go?" Then I ask what they have outbound and decide from there.
john I'm real sorry about your truck breaking down so much,. I hope it can be resolved and you stay in the game, lots of opportunity here at RR.Last edited: Sep 11, 2014

Got a question on the rental on the Extra trailers ... Is the payment all inclusive or are you still responsible for maintenance?

Well a little update pulled 2 loads with no breakdown (Knock on Wood). I booked my own load out of cleveland to go home. So I was able to see how that process worked was pretty simple but if I would have needed fuel fuel it would have cost me 36 dollars for a 300 dollar advance, that is excessive in my opinion. I could have taken an advance from the broker same amount for 15 dollars but the company setup CH and will not let them advance any money. I am now home although I should be working needed to take care of somethings so here I am headed out Sun. for Atlanta Take care fellow travelers.

Speaking of the trailer pool fleet, I am considering getting a second truck and using the trailer pool. It would be perfect if I could use both for my tractors . I envision a scenario where I would be inbound to Dallas for example and drop my Xtra trailer and hook into a preloaded Pool trailer then my driver in 2nd truck is inbound to Dallas with his Pool trailer drops and hooks into my preloaded Xtra trailer and we chase each other around the country dropping and swapping Pool/Xtra . Just don't know if RR would go for that as they would have 2 Pool trailers out sometimes under 1 Pool weekly deduction. Otherwise if they require me to have 2 weekly deductions for Pool, I have to go back to the calculator and do some more math.

I agree, the advance fees for broker loads chew up all the fuel discounts at the majors. I know we can upload money from the cared to our bank but it would be cool if we could load the card from our bank and never take the advance and still score the fuel discounts. Not sure the cards are reverse 'loadable' though.
John hwat is the process for booking an backhaul load? off the load boards? I'm having a real hard time getting loaded other than at terminals. RR agents call me all day everyday but their offer in the $1.40 range way too cheap. Tried to book off Landstar was going to pay me quite well, but somehow after the LS agent talked to RR the load was already booked? I can't prove it but i feel I get crockpot blocked from the broker freight. -
