    Amen to that !!!!

    I am certainly not driving a truck for fame and glory....

    The one I used for my at home study was a little different - it was a little black box about the size of a pack of cigarettes that was strapped to the middle of my chest with a 2" wide elastic band that went around me. It was on there pretty snug. The tech that wired me up told me there were sensors in the elastic belt that measured the expansion and contraction of my chest as I breathed. Then there was the clear plastic tube with the two little nubs that went slightly up my nose and a sensor that went on the end of my index finger. The did a good job of securing everything with surgical tape. I guess if you were a stomach sleeper, having a hard plastic box in the middle of your chest would be a problem, but I slept normally. You are certainly aware of it while you are lying there falling asleep, but once I was out it didn't bother me in the least. But I have to say, I think that halo on your head would have caused me problems too.....

    Even though I didn't hit deep sleep with the home testing device I'm hoping it read good enough for me to pass the test. If I do test positive I'll have grounds to cry foul. I would of preferred the chest device you got HP9K. I believe I could have actually slept with that on. I normally sleep on my right side, but as I mentioned in my previous post I couldn't get comfortable in any position. The halo device surrounded the front and sides of my head in hard plastic. The female robot voice would nag you if you rolled around in the bed too much. I guess the robot didn't want me to cheat on it with my wife lol.

    Went over to the VA in Tampa today for an unrelated appt. I took my SD card with me and had the VA Sleep folks run me a printout. My AHI using their cpap is averaging only 3.5 per hour. Almost all of those were hypopnias, just like in my sleep study where my AHI registered 40.0 per hour. Summary was slightly skewed in that the SD card showed results from 9/16-9/28. The machine was issued to me on 9/17, so I figure the 8 minutes showing on 9/16 was the VA personnel testing and programming the unit. Was preprogrammed to my prescription when issued to me.

    My summary results:
    Days with device usage: 13
    Days without device usage: 0
    Percent days with device usage: 100.0%
    Cumulative usage: 4 days, 8 hrs, 23 minutes, 44 seconds
    Maximum usage (1 day): 10 hrs, 38 minutes, 54 seconds
    Average usage (All days): 8 hrs, 1 minutes, 49 seconds
    Average usage (Days used): 8 hrs, 1 minutes, 49 seconds
    Minimum usage (1 day): 8 minutes, 10 seconds
    % of days with usage >= 4 hours: 92.3%
    % of days with usage <= 4 hours: 7.7%
    Total blower time: 4 days, 8 hrs, 27 minutes, 14 seconds

    Auto CPCP Mean Pressure: 7.1 cmH2O
    Auto CPAP Peak average pressure: 8.0 cm H2O
    Avg Device pressure <= 90% of time: 8.7 cm H2O
    Avg time in large leak per day: 5 seconds
    Average AHI: 3.5

    I'm out of my element sitting at home for 3.5 weeks and counting, so it's hard to tell.
