I don't know why I'm responding to this, seeing as I've lurked for three years and registered a few days ago never intending to post but here goes....
Are you sure you need a broker? Why not just build a relationship with a private dispatcher? If your intention is to have a single source broker finding freight for you, that broker, essentially, is just going to co-broker loads found on the same load boards you have access to. So now, you have to worry about payment passing two people as opposed to one.
In this situation, what we find to be most efficient is hiring a dispatcher paid on a per load basis. This dispatcher knows the credit criteria we require for financing purposes and knows not to call on loads from brokers who don't meet the credit threshold. Payments are sent directly to us, or to our factor if financed, from the party who solicited the load for transport. -
I would respond to your PM but I have yet to post the required minimum to do so. With that said, I'll answer your question as to "how do you find a reefer dispatcher"?
The same way you find any other dispatcher. I'm not so sure dispatchers niche into certain load types. You simply tell them what kind of freight you want/can haul, and they do your dirty work. (well its actually your clean work, since you'll be doing the heavy lifting) With that said, after reading your response via PM, I went onto craigslist and found an ad based in atlanta where they offer to handle everything from sourcing loads, credit checks, rate negotiations and all the paperwork for 6% of the total load revenue. Alternatively, they charge just $200 a month for a paper pusher plan where they act as your central office but you do the load finding/calling/booking. -
Try these two: Black Gold Farms (North Dakota, eh, their big, shipping from several states) & (favorite) Mike BenBen (wisc. shipping from several states)

Give Bill Bornhofer a call @ McDermid Transportation in Oconto Falls, Wi We are always looking for good guys, We run around 50-60 trucks, have a good shop and good customers with more calling for trucks every week lately.
We broker, or he will keep you rolling if thats what you want him to do.

Tadmore Transportation – Right Truck. Right Freight Good guys at Tadmore.
Al. Roper Thanks this. -
Wow dredged up an old thread from some driver that got in over his head. No sugar coating this. If you can't get out here and make your own way finding decent contacts and keeping that truck loaded you need to put a for sale sign on it now. Tadmore would probably be OK if he was around their freight. They do have a good reputation. But it's mostly reefer freight and they're a small brokerage with really limited load options for most of the country.
