Is going off duty on elogs while driving under 25mph a violation?

No it is not legal... if he were to have an accident. . Which 70% of accidents happen under 15mph... he would be in hot water...

Now, that being said... many drivers do creative logging to gain more time... it is there choice as they will pay the tickets and consequences. .. which with some companies means terminated. ..

I just recently became a trainer. .. and while I have at times done creative logging. . I do not have my trainees do it.. as it is not fair to have them risk marking up their CDL. .. I also watch my Ps and Qs when I have a trainee.. so, I dont do creative logging while I have a trainee.. because I am supposed to train them how to run effeciently, safely and legally. .. they can and probably will learn the bad habits on their own when they are in their own truck..

I will tell you what I tell my trainees.. the company is compensating me to train you.. they expect me to train you properly and set you up to succeed, you should expect and demand the same... if you feel I am not training you well then you should call the company and talk it over with them... you do not have to look out for me or protect me.. if I am not training you properly...

Then I give them a card that has the names and phone numbers of our training coordinator and our safety department and tell them if they have any questions or concerns about how I am training or driving or treating them they need to call those people and discuss it with them...

Yes it is a violation!!!, that's the short answer, if anyone tells you different? Talk to the safety department or a dot officer next time your at a weight station

 

Wow! I thought I had outgrown name-calling, but your trainer is a moron.

 

I think the whole 'driver training standards' thing needs a big revision, but I don't see things improving any time soon. And any revision still won't change the aforementioned story . . . .

Yes. I'd shoot the video - keep it in your pocket, and request another trainer for hygiene and safety concerns. If you get any resistance, tell them you have some video proof to qualify your concerns.

Bad situation - I feel for ya. It's either that or put up with Captain Stinky for the rest of your training period.

My moral conundrum with your issue is - At what point are you considered a 'rat', VS. Is it your obligation to do something about it to save future trainees the same issues.

Worst case scenario, Capt. Stinky kills himself and a trainee further down the road, and you know why . . .

Are you stating that I said that was perfectly okay to do?… You know what I stated was it wasflat out in violation of DOT regs to do that
