What happens to rejected freight? I used to work in a fertilizer dc. Twice we got a pallet of bottled water and a pallet of ice cream that was rejected from grocery warehouse down the road. What would have happened if we wouldn't have accepted these from the driver. Driver had delivered to grocer and was picking up from us.

We go to the nearest truck stop, get on the cb and offer free water and ice cream.
But mostly dispatch will route us to a place to donated it or tell the driver they have to destroy it...
...or go back to the shipperS M D Thanks this. -
I had 23 cases of pasta reject from a delivery last week. Instructions from dispach; do something with it. The employees of my next stop are eating well these days.

Dumb question, why would pasta be rejected?
-
I had a place refuse an entire bulk shipment of hydrate lime because they forgot to specify that the load needed seals when they placed the order. Got paid to haul it out to them, paid again to haul it back to the point of origin, got new paperwork and got paid again to haul it to another customer. Made real good money that week...3 paid trips and only had to load & unload once.

Some of the cases had bent corners or other minor damage. This particular grocery wholesaler can be very picky.

Well I think it depends on how much.
In most cases if it's less than a pallet (few cases) it's not really worth it for the company to have the driver to go to another place.
So for small quantities it's Destroy/Donate.
I had 1 Case of Beef once. (twice, same shipper same receiver)
8 Cases of Apple Juice cause they were wet. (still have some of the Apple Juice at home)
12 Boxes of Popsicles
BBQ Sauce
Salad Dressing, Tartar Sauce
Donated a bunch of Dressing.
As far as Donating that's a bigger Hassle than it's worth. -
Donate it to jerry moyes, swift needs donations to stay afloat

Use the red neck dump truck trick, put your trans in reverse in high, go as fast as you can, slam on the brakes, try not to do it in front of security cameras.
AdamStew209 and surfernabox Thank this. -
Make sure your doors are open too with the freight on the tailgate, otherwise you'll just look weird with all that backing and brake slamming.tucker Thanks this.
