Yes it's line haul and surcharge combined

With your own trailer you can (I do) run my own plate continously.
Most states you can purchase 1 year, 2 year or non expire trailer plates. And trailer plates are as cheap as a car. -
That would include everything including tarping, or special equipment like ramps or step deck or dunnage, also includes multiple drops.

my advice would be tell him to buy his own truck, the best thing for you to do is concentrate on the one truck you have at the moment. but to answer your question, you wouldn't have to incorporate, but again, you will do just as well with running your one truck as you would adding a truck and hiring him. it is amzing how much more fuel tires, etc a hired driver will go thru than you will.
there is a reason he is begging YOU to hire him if he cant find a decent outfit to drive for, think about it.Last edited: Nov 2, 2014
roshea Thanks this. -
the price you see on mercer load board is truck money, everything included. it all goes into the same pot , so why not? and running mercer plates is the price you pay for them paying all additional ifta taxes and the o/o not being responsible for any additional ifta owed

Also, depending on what state you live in, you will not pay personal property taxes on the truck. I'm more than glad to have Mercer get my plates and title for me. My Freightliner Century (1998) was ten years old and NC still taxed me at a value of $52,000. Can't even dispute it until after you pay the tax, and I never won the dispute. Trailers are easy enough to register in Maine (or elsewhere) but why not just have it all in the same place?Lucar Thanks this. -
Just pulled into the T/A in aurora if anyone wants to chat.. will be here till the morning.

People seem to assume you mean to get a second truck already.
Do you want to codrive again? If so...and you worked well together before...then why not do that? That way he could learn the system, you could both make some extra money, and you could consider where to go from there.
