Hello Mercertown. First after spending days reading every post in this thread, I would like to thank all of you for your great insight into Mercer. I had spent some time trying to decide on if I should go LS or Mercer. Did a lot of research and decided on Mercer after leaning heavily (and being approved) by LS. I'm coming from 7 years at a very large reefer company where I managed to be one of the approx. .2% (not really a typo) that manage not only complete a lease but out right purchase their truck. I'm sure my 20 yrs of military helped. When I started reading this thread I thought I was going to have a ton of question. However, after reading all my basic questions have been answered (often several times) so I will hold my questions until I finish orientation and try and sneak in a little of that KOOLAID. I really just wanted to thank everyone for having such a great thread. Can't wait to meet you all.

surely I would think the MPGs are better on the 579, now today I think it is actually on the drivetrain. if you think about it a bit and you'd have both trucks spec'ed out the same, I think they'd do about the same fuel mileage. the aerodynamics on both trucks wouldn't show a difference unless they'd be taken to higher speeds of over (i'm guessing here) 80 mph. so on a truck that you run 60-70 mph there shouldn't be difference on fuel mileage given the same drivetrain.
I am pulling about 7.2 mpg. and def is 188 mpg as of today, I can't really compare to the T660 I had since it was an '08 Cat acert and drivetrain was different. I hope you're having fun at TMC, be safe out there.
I'd say you're welcome and IMHO I believe you've taken a very good decision you won't regret. I've been here for a thin time and feel like there's no where else I'd go. Godspeed CJnda.kona911 and CJndaTruck Thank this. -
Hey can someone help me out I found a load on the board but when I called about it I didn't qualify for it, it was a high Security load anyone know how to get set up for those kinds of loads
-
You have to have the security clearance, and those loads used to require a tracking device, like a qualcomm.
-
Used to have a top secret clerance in the army, do you know who I contact at mercer to see if I can start the process
-
I used to have a top secret clearance at govt contractor also,I bet those loads pay very well
-
Along that same question. What do you need to do to be Seimens qulaified?
-
Many of those loads also require teams. But why ask here? Ask your coordinator to help that's their job, you can also call safety and claims.
-
call O/O relations they'll point you in the right direction.
-
its a stuff like no tickets at all for so many years, no accidents or stuff for 5 years, and a drug test, basically abunch of horsecrap, unless of course you are in the area and they have to move the load, then youre in, for that one load.
I once thought I was seimens qualified, went and got tested and everything, then I found out I went to the wrong test site. I went to the sperm bank and was semen qualified to make deposits.DirtyJoe13, Road Boss, Lone Ranger 13 and 1 other person Thank this.
