If you mention leasing to Swift the trolls come out of the woodwork and starting spouting their negative crap.
There are plenty of successful O/Os at Swift, myself included. I'm successful because I carefully control my costs and DO NOT idle my truck.
If you have PERSONAL experience leasing to Swift and want to chime in be my guest, if not shut your trap and climb back under the rock you came from.
Oh, and the new pay package sucks!

2800 miles divided by 7.8 mpg = 360 gallons times $3.50 per gallon = $1256 round up to $1300.
$702 fixed cost times 52 weeks times 4 (years) plus $35,000 residual value = $181016 divided by
$0.75 = 241,354 miles to break even
2800 miles times 40 weeks per year times 5 years = 560,000 miles minus 241,354 = 318646 miles in your pocket divided by 5 years 63729 miles in your pocket per year divided by 12 months = 5310 miles per month in your pocket divided by 4.33 = 1226 in your pocket weekly times $0.56 = $686 per week.
Now I say all that because to be fair most company drivers are breaking over $1000 bucks a week takehome every week. -
Scottie, with all due respect on 2800 miles per week after all expenses and that includes my .15/mi for my escrow my weekly take home, net is about $1300. A company driver at .40mi gross is $1100. After taxes that is about $865. For the last 3 years after all my deductions I have broken even as far as my taxes. And I do not pay quarterly.
-
The $1300 is just an illusion when one factors in the residual value still owed on the equipment after the lease period is over. Maintenance too, I figure $5000 the first year, $7000 the second year $10,000 the third year and $12,000 a year forth and $15,000 the 5th year.
Company driver 2800 miles times $0.47 = $1316 times 22% tax rate = $1027 paycheck. -
