I had chp give me a lane ticket on the 210 years ago when I put my turn signal on, and moved over to the empty, second from the furthest right lane, to avoid getting run into by a solid stream of high speed 4 wheelers on an on ramp.
I asked him what I was supposed to do about the four wheelers who were speeding, tailgating, and not even using a turn signal while merging?
That idiot told me 'slow down or come to a stop. You're not passing so you need to stay in the far right lane.'

He also tried to claim I was speeding, but I had a light load, and the cruise set at 59, and was nowhere close to the 67 he claimed I was doing.

I was pulled over on I 5 last week for a lane violation. I was going upgrade I had a light load so I was going a bit faster then truck in front of me so I merged into the 2nd lane to pass him I activated my right hand signal when i got passed him but he suddenly speeded causing me to stay in lane so I decided slowdown but there was another truck tailgating me in same lane . a chp officer pulled up and looked at me in my face and immediately turned on his light and motioned me to pullover. When he approached my truck i new why he was stopping me and told him I was attempting to merge into lane his response was I shouldn't been in lane in the first place I sensed the hostility so I complyed was giving a ticket. The problem I have is I was legally using 2nd lane to pass but was hindered by truck i was passing and when I tryed to slowdown another truck was in same lane tailgating. The officer seen that I was trapped and was attempting to getover because I have not cancelled my right blinkers .Should I go to court and fight this our just pay the fine?

There is no legal pass in that lane. The sign says no trucks. It does not say except to pass.

I really have no sympathy when it's so well known that chp will give a lane violation at the drop of a hat.

I was stopped on the 60 bobtail for a lane violation this past week and wasn't cited. I told the CHP Officer I had to use the #2 lane to pass all the container trucks driving 45-50 in the #3 lane, and my dash cam will show it. I asked him why they don't cite the trucks in the #3 driving 45-50, they should be in the #4 since they are going slower than the flow and impeding. He said "Just get out of here", and off I drove. I get no one wants to deal with merging traffic from the on ramps, but 45-50 doesn't cut it when the flow is faster.
