To the best of my knowledge Florida does not produce good rates!
-
Pretty much what he said.
They are sporadically favorable but often times it's a wash, considering you're going to get raped trying to get in to FL to begin with. -
That's not necessarily true. I've often been offered good rates going in and while I do run to other dead zones if the price is right going in, FL is one I avoid at all costs 99.9% of the time. The rates coming out are just too bad to compensate and deadheading to a more favorable location is often too far or to areas I don't care for anyway like up the coast.

Look at this for info.VisionLogistics Thanks this. -
For some reason rates this week dropped big time coming out of fl.
-
Yeah its saying rates are better coming out of south GA than south FL
-
How close are those rates to reality or what you ultimately negotiate with your particular broker? The service is use to for rates shows
miami-Bx NY@ $2.22 ($2868) USDA--$2500-3500 depending on the commodity. Thanks -
Don't know particularly about Fl, but most of the time the broker we use has rates that are comparable out of Id and Ca. So I would say its at least a starting point for negotiations. JMO

I haven't run FL for years. Rates in normally stink when produce is running well and rates out rarely make up the shortfall. If you get a multi pick up load, like 6 or 8 and you haul into the Bronx you may get an okay rate. Tolls are sky high and you risk getting your hood torn off in Hunts Point not to mention paying to get into the market and paying for them to unload you. You also often need pallets with FL loads and if you're lucky enough to have good ones and not have to buy them the vendors at Hunts Point will try to give you back worthless junky skids every time. Personally I think Florida sucks.
