Packing List for Students

Ive driven long distances on my Motorcycle and in my POV, and some of the conditions of the restrooms for travelers are digusting. I once saw a trucker at a Texas Rest stop just East of The Biggest Crucifix in the SW around Groom Tx, and he had a Toolbelt of cleaning supplies. Brush, Towels, Cleaner, Plunger, etc. Would this also be a good thing to add to a packing list?

 

Are you sure it was a trucker and not just volunteer maintenance person?. Many rest areas have them . Never heard of a trucker carrying a plunger nor paper towels on a belt. . No real need to.
Yes !!!! For your assigned truck paper towels are a needed item along with a little 409, gloves and windex. ( small bottle)brush and plunger is not needed. You will not have time to clean toilets and sinks in the rest areas you frequent.

 

how bout steel-toe boots, and birth certificate?

 

Bring can of lysol to use to spray showers in truckstops before you use them

 

Yes to both. BC will likely be required for orientation. ST boots (if you are a "door swinger") will be required very few times, but if a customer requires them you had better have them; besides, chicks dig them.

 

spend the extra 10 bucks and get an official state ID from your home state so if for any reason you lose your DL you have an official state id as back up

we don't realize how difficult life is without it (in today's world) until you don't have any ID ... then it really sucks...

and if you are out of your home state it's even worse

trust me...

 

Some states are experimenting with the idea of making versions of their own state id's available on smartphone apps, like some insurance companies are doing with their "cards".....

 

Yep. And use that ID when you check in at guard houses and the like. Never take your CDL out of your wallet unless you absolutely have to.

 

seriously doubt that was a trucker. It is not necessary to carry all that stuff in a truck. handi wipes, toilet paper and lysol and a bottle of alcohol is all you NEED . You will be i n TS's much more often than rest areas. Even some TS's are nasty and it is time to tell manager and let corporate know. but until your assigned your own truck travel ight. 99% of stuff is easily obtained in TS or nearby stores.
