If you're not working and bobtail away somewhere you shouldn't be able to hold MT trailers hostage with kingpin locks.
I almost lost out on a live load that paid awesome because ALL the MT trailers were king pin locked at the Carlisle terminal.

I can understand if you wanna bobtail for lunch somewhere for an hour and not lose your trailer BUT I'm talking 10+ MT trailers kingpin locked late at night on the weekend? come on now... :biggrin_25513:

We have been told to kingpin ours if we bobtail off to go shopping or something. Even though it is already assigned to us for a pre-plan, they can still disappear if left alone.

The other bad thing with knight is in fontana ca and phoenix terminals are that there drivers based there will stay hooked to the mts and go home for the weekend and dispatch tells you sorry but go run around town and find an mt...I've seen as many as 18 hooked like that..even the local day cabs hooked to them...

In orientation we were told that when you plan on taking time off.. 1 day or more that you're required to let them know and get rid of your MT. As an IC they said if you keep your MT you will be charged $50 a day.
Then again what they say and what actually happens is two different things.

I've kept an mt at my house for 8 days and never heard a word about it....

But I'm sure every situation is different, since we all have different ICAs...

From talking to other ICs my ICAs seem very laid back.....

    Roll on....
