    Who here has Straight Talk.
I know they don't have their own Network.

So thinking if I can drop Verizon and switch to Straight Talk, I could save a bunch of.$$.

If I can switch and be sure to stay on VZW Network I think it may be worth it.

I'm keeping my 'extra' /old Unlimited VZW line.

If you're not under contract with Verizon then I would do it.I've used Straight Talk and never had issues with them.In fact i'll be going back to them once my Verizon contract expires.I have the trac phone and calling cards because I was going to do it a couple months ago.I bought a trac phone from Verizon and because my bill was more costly then what I was lead to believe I was going to cancel Verizon.I was told the day I got the trac phone I can cancel any time.So when I wanted to cancel I am now told I have to wait till July otherwise I pay $160.00.Now im having trouble with my jetpack again and got into an argument with a associate last nigh i'll be calling them again today.

I have been using Straight Talk for about four years now, switched from AT & T. I will never go back to a contract. I just recently bought an Iphone 6 plus from Walmart and retired the old Nokia E71. Just remember, in the USA each cell phone that is manufactured is tied to a certain network, with Straight Talk, if you ask them at Walmart, they will tell you which network a particular phone is tied to, they have phones that are connected to all three networks, so find out what network the phone is tied to so that you get a phone that will give you good service, (in my area Sprint coverage is not so good), I knew that AT&T worked anywhere in the USA where I have been with exception of a few areas in the desert, so I wanted a phone that was tied to AT&T. If you have a gsm phone, you can just get a new sim card from Straight Talk and keep using your phone. No service is perfect and this includes Straight Talk, but for the money it is hard to beat. Do not get there wifi service though, I tried that and ended up taking it back.

A friend had a family member that had the monthly unlimited service, and tethered to his phone. Found out after the 1st month that they start throttling you in areas after 5 gig of use...so, if you're just using the phone as a phone and not a data hub, you should be fine. My wife's cousin works for the remodeling department of Wally and has it. Said the same thing. She did have issues with FoxFi after a software update, but she has since moved on to better equipment. She mostly travels up and down the eastern half of the country, so I am not sure how the coverage is elsewhere. I know you have to watch where you buy your equipment. A friend had service with them and it sucked. Turns out his phone was a T-mobile based unit while others are Verizon. They claim they use multiple carriers, but since not all carriers use the same network architecture, one phone can't cover all carriers, so they base their phones on which network is the predominant carrier for that store since most people who buy there only use it around that region. They don't think of us professional nomads.

You will find that in some rural areas you will not have network access but the guy standing next to you with a Verizon phone will have full service. If you stay on or near the freeways then there is usually no issue but if you get off the pavement at times, you will have all kinds of issues.

I go off road to drill rigs and I have rarely had connection problems, no carrier has one hundred percent coverage.

I use Verizon prepaid. Its $45/month, unlimited talk/text, and if you do an automated deduction/renewal plan (tied to your bank/debit card) you get 1 GB data. I also do the prepaid data with a jetpack and its $90/month for 10 GB (also Verizon).

I had tried Boost Mobile (Sprint) and TMobile (prepaid) and the coverage areas away from major cities and highways were extremely poor and unreliable. Never had a problem Verizon. HTH

I personally won't use any data.

As stated I'm keeping my Unlimited Verizon Line which I use as a Hotspot.
We need to get Internetz at home, then my wife won't be needing to use any real mobile data either.

Ok maybe it was not clear... Yes they use the Verizon network but even the Verizon prepaid phones are not allowed to use ALL of the network. I used to have a Straight Talk phone until I discovered this. I was standing right next to a coworker and he could use his Verizon phone but my Straight Talk would not work. We could even see the dang cell tower.

Go to a Verizon store and ask them why a prepaid phone will not work where a Verizon phone will.
