Hmm, this one is a 2014 but Geez I'm cold
Past 3 nights I have idled due to being in near zero or sub zero temperatures. I'm just waiting to get yelled at for idling too much. I'm on 34 now in findlay, oh and watching TV in the truck freezing lol. I'm going to have to idle tonight or sleep in the driver lounge or something. -
I did that once too, forgot to set the tractor brakes after the tugtest. Hooked up air and lights and stepped back to the truck push in red and flip lights on to do walkaround to check lights and be able to hear air leaks. Whole unit started rolling backwards and was able to snatch the red line off the trailer real quick to lock up the trailer wheels.

The grease for the fifth wheel and landing gear is pretty stiff at very low temps. It sometimes takes 15-20 seconds pulling the handle out before the 5th wheel will release.
When backing under a trailer in freezing temps I try to apply pressure for several seconds just to make sure it locks properly. -
if its below 20, idle the engine to keep from gelling.. i always send a message saying i'm idling and why
-
Swift will pay for anti gel. I idle and if they ask I tell them it was 3 degrees with 30 MPH wind and I was cold lol. My wabasto keeps my KW warm til about 10 degrees out. Then it struggles a little.

Thanks for the advise. I mostly only idle when I'm going to be sleeping. At least after my 34 I'm going to Virginia so maybe just maybe I will be in some warmer areas lol.

At the Syracuse terminal, they have the new IFTA steekerz if you're in this area.

I used that once and the next day I was in the shop because my fuel filters were iced up.
The additive prevents gelling, but it also removed water - but that water ends up in the filters and freezes.
We have yet another freezing potential now - the DEF.
Even if the fuel doesn't gel, the DEF lines could freeze.
I idle when it is 15 or below, period. If the idle time is mentioned I just mention the temps I have been in.
But, idle time has not been mentioned in more than a year now, and I'm always on the high side.
I think they simply gave up on me concerning my idle times. -
Time for a new addition to your routine Kymi. Never, ever get out of the truck without yanking that yellow knob. Never.....ever....
