I think you are missing the real goal, which is to kill russias economy, and open up those oil markets to the Saudis than Russia now services. us imports of oil are way way down. the US is now the largest producer of oil in the world. what will happen now is those unreal amounts of money being paid in the Dakotas will normalize and come back to earth.

Ok now that fuel prices have gone back down, even below 2$ gallon, but the price of all other things like tires is not going back down.
Remember this when we get back to Famos Daves -
Well guys, I'm back on the road... I'll be in LKY tomorrow to do a bunch of paperwork and to get an ELD installed on Wednesday. I don't really want to get one, but I'd like to do it now instead of worrying about it in the future. I'm coming back to work with a whole new plan. Slowing down, running perfectly legal and just takings time. I've done a lot of thinking the last few months and the accident I had really scared me. I can't let that happen again.
Battle Born, rickybobby, Pound Puppy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Looks like the Mercer board is down again

My friend, just Holla if you need anything.glad to have you back out, now watch out with the ice.
I'll be in Lou today -
glad to hear that!!!! yep get mercerized, slow dwn and smell the roses -
it takes longer for that effect to happen.... which is why fuel surcharge is a temp fix. instead of adding to a rate and making it permanent, the fuel charge is a patch that can be quickly take away. sort of an non- permanent way of raising rates

So my first two weeks actually on the road at Mercer are in the books. I'm thinking not a great two weeks but not the worst either. I did take 4 days off in the middle but I figure that will be pretty normal for me so I included them in my count towards two weeks. And I did learn a lot as I made my mistakes. The sad part is that most (OK all) of the mistakes I made someone on this very board had warned about before I ever made them. The big one? If a load meets your parameters but you think something better might come along you better take what you got while you have it.
Also note that my PPM average is accounting for every mile I put on the truck (DH, Walmart, Truck Wash, Hotels and food) as I used my odometer from day one till now. I know many don't count DH as it is written off on our taxes anyhow, but it is a measure that I still use as I'm still stuck on CPM. I am on E-logs and I also did bounce once and I took a couple of LTL loads that I might try again.
two weeks:
Just over $11k to the truck.
Avg. PPM $1.98
Fuel cost $1724.87 total
+ Trlr, ins. Blah blah
I don't really have a benchmark to go off of yet but I am sure I will soon. Hopefully with everyone's help I can continue to learn and improve.
P.S. So far my coordinator has only booked my first load. The rest have been all me.Last edited: Jan 13, 2015
DirtyJoe13 Thanks this. -
By "DH" I am assuming that you mean dead head. How can that be written off on your taxes?
