So after driving and doing a few lease purchase programs, hubby and I have decided to try CRST on the van side. He was previously a trainer there, so he knows their system somewhat on the company side. I know some will try to talk us out of it, but we have a plan and we're going with it. Soooo.. Just a few questions:

    1. What does the average husband/wife team average weekly over there running on 70% of the load?

    2. I know that they assign a truck to you and you don't get to pick it. What are they averaging as far as mileage on the truck and do they come with any extras or do we need to bring our existing ones? (inverters, fridge, etc..)

Anything else you can add would be great!

Wow, you pay for the truck but they assign a truck to you. Nice, where do I sign up?

Seems to me, not to be a smart ###, but question 2 could best be answered by CRST. Really if they can't or won't or you don't trust them for info. I say run the other direction.

If he knows the system there why would he go back. Go to Quest you will double your income.

Its a varible as to how busy they keep you. My son ran over I do his books, They just give you too much time on the loads, That translates out to loss of your money. They also like to stick drivers with local loads because as you already know they do not have local drivers to handle it, so you get stuck with that too. You should make as a team 140K, but after expenses and you know they give you nothing and charge you for everything.

The trucks CRST lease have 500K plus on them, And your right you get it sight unseen. You have to take what ever they decide your going to buy. They do not have anything you have to supply everything, frige inverter, microwave, bugfree mattress, You get to keep the junk stuck to the floor.

Glad you made up your mind already, CRST is a starter company, there are ssoooo mmmmaaannyyy better places to go. I would not take my wife there, but thats just my opinion. Good Luck with it. Come back and let us all know how it worked out.

Signing a lease with Schneider's choice plan would be a better option if you've convinced yourselves to lease. At least with them you can pick your own loads, and pick out your own tractor. Or a much better idea would be to finance a truck, and lease onto Farm2Fleet. They pay 80% of the line haul rate.

Why not got to Schneider's Choice program or Landstar? I would never let a company dispatch me if I'm making payments on the truck and paying everything else. I pick my loads and plan my self off the load board on the internet. I never have to wonder where then good paying freight is, I just look, and route myself there. I can go home for as long as I want, whenever I want. No commitments to anything but my $350 a week truck payment. Also, don't get a truck from the company you are leased onto, if you can help it.

Ladytrucker, did you do the lease with CRST? Curious how it worked for you? We are looking at a few options ourselves. Thank you for any input you can provide.

I was just looking at the lease myself at CRST and decided just to become a trainer on the company side. not leasing until I can put back some money and build up my credit first. then I will find a good company or start my own.
