I remember back when I had my Cascadia with the Cummins I was playing around in Insite on my laptop and it had a thing called "driver reward" where basically the ECM could be programmed to allow a certain amount of overspeed as long as the driver remained under the limit the rest of the time. I never really dug into it but it had all kinds of settings. I would love to see more companies use something like this... allow a driver a few extra MPH to pass safely and efficiently instead of playing the 1MPH game.
Unfortunately knowing me all of my "driver reward" time would be wasted as I'd put my foot on the floor for as long as I could until it cut out.
I'm glad I got out of driving company when I did. I heard they really cracked down on overspeed. I had it up to ridiculous percentages on the scorecard because I would literally drive ALL day with my foot planted on the floor at 63 MPH instead of using the cruise at 60.

That APU is an option.. an $1800 option up front on a new truck or higher payments on a used truck that has phone.
Most IC Shakers do not have an APU.
I thought about doing a 1 year lease but I refused to not have an APU (those battery things suck during summer for AC).. they didn't have a truck with an APU at the time. zero
Went with a new Kenworth for 3 years instead.
The one year lease is a good deal to get into though to "test" things out. -
I'm getting a 2014 Evo with a idle free APU on it...looks just like a tri pac....

Runs on batteries. So on a 34 you'll still need to idle at least 5ours to charge the batteries

wow, quite the read! so im not for them or against Schneider. Do i work for them, yes. Is my pay good, for only having 2-3 years under my belt, its good. Did they tell me upfront what I was getting into? YES! people tend to not do their research and listen to whatever the other person on the other end of the phone says. if that dedicated account didn't pay you well, then move on, there are several divisions. im sure that the pay is ok since they have drivers that are willing to stick it out. I've worked with an OTR company and a local company, they had good and bad points. now im a regional intermodal driver and its a good gig. you have to find what best works for you! you will not find it being a newbie, but after you have some experience then you will find it.
