How recent are the felonies and driving infractions?

 

Felons must be older than 10 years, trucking company require a 10 year driving print out

 

I'll give you the bottom of the list - try Carolina Cargo, and Western Express, but - as said - 10 year history is DOT required, you've got an uphill battle.

 

Get a lawyer and get them expunged if you can.

 

If YOU owned a business, would you hire thieves? Kind of defeats the purpose of starting a for profit trucking company doesnt it?

 

Go by the offices of some local companies and talk with the driver managers. Theft is a big "red flag" with insurance companies, along with your other driving violations. Being eligible for a TWIC card is another factor.........I have not read the TWIC requirements, so I can't help you there. You might be able to drive some local dump trucks or delivery vans......I dunno. Good luck & fly straight. The longer you go without and brushes with the law, the better off you will be.

 

You might try a charity that considers itself a "second chance" employer, like a food bank or a recycling outfit that isn't hauling high-value cargo. I work for a charity, and some of the other drivers have records (I don't, so I can't speak from personal experience). We don't have problems with theft or safety, these guys are glad to have an honest job. Everyone knows it's a second, but not third chance workplace. Anyway, might mean driving around in a box truck or working on the dock for awhile. If they have trailers, and you have a class A, the day might come when they need a guy and you're standing there. As mentioned above though, the final call could be up to their insurance company. TWIC and Hazmat jobs might be out of reach, unless you can get some things expunged.. good luck though
