yep, this is as bad as it gets. now lets hear it, how many are ticked off they didn't come hear sooner. I hit my 4 year anniversary this coming Friday.

I am totally upset at myself for not coming over a couple of years ago when I first paid off my truck. Well there, I've kicked myself. LOL. No reason for me to sit here and pout over spilt milk. I still have lots to learn and if I spend all my time worried about what I could have done I'll probably miss what I should be doing. For now I will just enjoy being Mercerized

I've stated many times I wish I had come here the day I started trucking. I try not to think about it tho because it makes me so #### disgusted thinking about those lost years.

You guys are making me feel good about the decision I have made/am making. I'm not over there yet, have to finish up this lease in the next couple weeks, but I have been set on it for a few months. Now, I'm too much of a pansy to pull a skateboard in the winter time, y'all can keep that, but even so, I don't think pulling a van for them is going to be a bad idea either. I've never heard one bad thing (other than the ridiculous post from a few days ago) about Mercer, but just don't see many without a skateboard to really talk to them about doing the lazy thing. I don't mind turning a wrench for minor repairs and I am always willing to learn when I have something bigger going on so that I might be able to fix that in the future. I have been leasing, and successfully, for 4 years with one of the mega training companies. I figure if I can manage that, then I can easily manage to do it when the odds are stacked in my favor. Who knows, maybe I will let someone teach me the ins and outs of a flatbed and join the darkside during the summer months next year.

Well I do carry all of my hand tools with along with a assortment of stuff. Like when I went to louisville on jan 3 to get the inspection done on the volvo I had a leaky air hose on the trailer. No problem, I went and bought a new one but for some reason I kept the old one. A week later it sure came in handy when a rubber fuel return hose(I think) on top of the motor blew and I used that air line to repair it on the side of the road. Which was good because the virginia trooper that stopped to investigate was all ready to call a wrecker and hazmat to clean up the fuel spill. I told him he can call them if he wants but I will be gone by the time they get there. LOL He said "well it looks like you everything covered" and left. By the way, northern Indiana was colder than north dakota lask week.Last edited: Feb 7, 2015

yeah that would be great for people wanting to know in the future. i pretty much made up my mind after having contemplated it and then speaking with one of your van guys out in Ontario, Ca about 6 months back. I knew I wanted to buy a truck when this lease was done, but wasn't sure if I wanted to stay where I am, they've always treated me right I just know I can make more somewhere else, or look for somewhere else. i eventually want to have my own authority and a small fleet of maybe 10 trucks, but that is my ultimate goal. right now I want to just take that next step towards it. I would do the flatbed thing, but I don't like the cold, I live in the south for a reason, and I wouldn't want to have to fight tarps that have frozen up on me while freezing my southern ### off. if its below 60 its too cold. I'll play in the snow, but I'm staying in my truck to do it. -
LOL, I came from CR........ I did well (better then most) there. Had want for nothing as I was successful even driving solo. If you can get through that and still be floating, then this is a cakewalk (ok before skateboard or someone flames me
) but make sure you read the "why some fail at mercer" thread.

I'd like to punch my forehead for not coming out here before, but I am settled on having struggled prior to doing so. I value now what Mercer gives me and understand there's no better.

I'll make sure to check that out. I'm with Stevens right now. I do just fine solo, work the system and make sure I get at least 2800 miles a week, but I usually average around 31-3200 when I'm solo. I did train for a little while, was going to stop when I bought a truck regardless of where I put the truck on at, but my last student and I went for a little tumble and I decided it wasn't worth putting my life in someone else's hands anymore. We blew a steer, he hit the brakes instead of the fuel and then the terrain next to the road didn't help. I don't think it was his fault and dont blame him at all, if anything it was a failure on my part for not training him how to handle the situation before it happened, but I've got about a month left here, then its on to bigger and better things.
